Earlier this week I was walking around the new Casino and took a few photos, unfortunately they are taken at night time, so the photos are not the best.
No need to apologise for those photos - thank you!!

Great snaps
That escalator though . The poster who bagged it is right I'm afraid . That's just something out of the 70's .

Could be wrong, but won't they have shunted every poker machine they have into the new building so that they can start on the comprehensive heritage restoration of the old building?

No. All brand new machines. I watched them get taken out the crates and installed

Definitely agree. It reminds me of the escalator they used to have in Rundle mall to take you up to the bridge YEARS AGO!!!! Image

Escalators might look a bit tacky, but they serve a purpose in helping some people who could have trouble with stairs.

I really don't see the problem - as long as they are maintained and don't suffer from aesthetic or mechanical deterioration due to being exposed to the elements. They serve a purpose and don't seem particularly offensive in my opinion.

by how good is he
Anyone know if Station Lane [where the white lines are] will be open to taxis/valet/cars etc or for Pedestrian use only? Also if there will be a entrance from North Tce to the new carpark?

Great photos Norman!

We've got our first peak at the paving system/design language that will continue through the whole plaza:

I'm not sold on the paving. It's in that weird middle ground where it's trying to reference the Festival Centre geometry, but it's neither adhering to it close enough nor clearly differentiating itself (organic hexagon pattern vs strictly geometric octagon pattern).

I tend to agree and worry how it may appear across vast expanses, though I do note that the shape expression and paving stones change according to activity/zone which should help define distinct spaces within the plaza.

I guess the idea is they're trying to soften the harsher geometry of the Festival Centre and the future office tower with a more organic pattern. Architects designing the new plaza probably took one look at the old design and the Hajek sculptures and went "heck no!" Will have to wait and see how it all blends together.
