Guess you can say they'll be entering a bit of a funk.

This is good, apart from Hutt Street I don't believe there is another Cibo on the southern end of the CBD. Sure enough you can expect the cafe in the neighbouring office building will suffer.
There's a very busy Cibo's on Gouger Street

ADELAIDE’S highest home is up for grabs as the state’s tallest residential building officially hands over the keys tonight to more than 400 new residents.
Deputy Premier John Rau will oversee the official opening of the $100 million, 28-storey Vue apartments at the southern end of King William St.
The 85 metre high building — which has a $2 million, level 27, three bedroom penthouse for sale still — has gone from breaking ground to completion in just 20 months and residents will move in over the next few weeks.

Damon Nagel from Starfish Developments which, in conjunction with Melbourne’s Asian Pacific Group — is behind the project, said Vue was another sign that Adelaide is continuing to mature as an attractive place to live as well as work and play.
“The vision for the project was bold, and I’m delighted to see that brave, innovative developments are possible in Adelaide,” Mr Nagel said.
“If we want to encourage people to live in the CBD then we must create unique, distinctive projects where people see the real benefits of a move from the suburbs to the city.”
The building boasts a six level podium, recessed level 7 roof top garden, pool deck and recreation centre and 22 level glass frontage.
Mr Nagel said Vue was one of the first projects to take advantage of the state government’s pre-lodgement and design review process and was the first significant residential project to commence construction following introduction of CBD planning reforms.

I just like the bldg - full stop. Will add to KWS Sth - impressed with the slimming elongated height effect of it from certain angles. Looking forward to see it in next visit to Adelaide later in year. It's time the high rise resi market hit Adelaide - been years in the east. (Bris, reaching a glut).

So what is everyone's general verdict on this compared to the original Hills proposal years ago?

It would be a great disappointment if Adelaide ends up being similar to Brisbane.
There are nice grassed areas along the river Torrens and then you have the small convention centre buildings and the bigger university buildings under construction in the background. It's going to be a nice tiered panorama when it's all finished. Compare this to Brisbane where they've put a concrete jungle right on top of the brown coloured Brisbane river, it looks terrible.

If you have a look at the tiny size of the Brisbane CBD (hemmed in a loop in the Brisbane River), they probably have no other choice.
