Thanks very much Will.
I did not know that you could take down any part of a heritage listed building.

I think the law is flexible in this regard. If the building in question ahs retained its original interior and it is relevant to the context of the building, then yes no part of the building can be demolished. However in this regard, the interior and roof of the cottage were not original and had been modernised through the years and thus the only heritage aspects of the building was the façade.Queen Anne wrote:Thanks very much Will.

I hear a contractor has been awarded the Stage 1 carpark for this project.

I walked past here today and there was a couple of workers and and excavator digging up an awful lot of concrete and moving stuff around. Does anyone know what they are doing? Is it to do with constructing this building or just that carpark?

Fair bit of activity on the site now.
Piling machine, excavator etc, and all kinds of materials being brought in.
Does this one get a crane at all? Seems high enough to need one.

a 10 level car park for a building thats 11 levels Far out, real good to see everyone in the building can get their own carpark. They wont have to walk outside or anywhere at all. I spose because of the large supply of carparks, Adelaide could get down to about $5 a day to park in the CBD . Is it any wonder that Adelaide is just about the only western city in the world not to have an increase in the use of public transport over the past year. Even US cities have had large increases in PT useBen wrote:I'm prety sure as Radelaide said the 10 level carpark is abot to start.

The 1st stage car park is 10 levels but this is only approximately 28 metres high all up due to the lower floor heights of a car park. It may gets it own crane or be done like the Flinders Link SGIC building with temporary cranes.
Who knows when stage 2 will occur. It is around 12,000 square metres of office space. I think Hills Industries may still be looking for over 3,000 square metres in the CBD or suburbs with a lot of car parking. If other tenants can get on board with them this would be a good development for them to sign up to as it is not too large but large enough to give them good brand exposure within the CBD which is what they were seeking with their King William Street proposal.
Hopefully stage 2 occurs as the car park could be rather ugly just by itself on that block.
