Love the new suburb name and nod to the past.

I really wish we would go reinstating a lot of the smaller suburbs that have since been amalgamated into larger ones. For example the stupidly large area thats now Edwardstown used to consist of 4 or 5 smaller suburbs. I think it gives an area a better sense of identity and character.

I guess the counter argument in favour of larger suburbs and name consolidation is that it makes wayfinding in the city easier.

More people are likely to know where Edwardstown is rather than Ackland Gardens/Alexander Park/Cudmore Park/Hammersmith/Mirreen/St Marys West/Woodlands Park

I completely disagree. If anything it would make it way easier. There's certain areas of Edwardstown that have individual character or landmarks - makes wayfinding a lot easier.
