The 2016 UBD Street Directory states that it's due for completion in Mid 2017.

HA!!!! Where is the follow up media coverage telling us how our tax funds are now going towards amending these helipads as they didn't pass the acoustic testing.
At a huge cost ! $$

Not the greatest looking building IMO, east end is ok but the south side looks more like a warehouse than a hospital. The temp fence doesn't help things though, so I'll be interested to take a proper look when it's done. Taken today, larger here - http://imgur.com/a/xGxjo
EDIT:south not north - though north side isn't much better...

I agree. I think the new Women's and Children's Hospital will improve the western end, at the moment it's just a lot of concrete.
What gets me is that they've planted MORE Plane trees along the curb... Because Adelaide doesn't have enough of them already...

I think you need a compass mate.
The south and east end of the building are the glass covered parts, as is almost all of the western side..
It's the northern side that's concrete..and when it's open you'll understand why it's not covered in glass like the southern side.
It's already fairly obvious(not sure if plans or layouts have been made public..?) what the difference is.
As for it being open mid 2017, lol, UBD is taking a pot shot.

Plans were made public a little while ago but have since disappeared, if I recall correctly the northern side has all the single patient rooms from like floor 3 to 9 hence the saw tooth shape on the north side. Pretty hard to have glass walls at patient rooms. Furthermore, the ugly teal, black and white panels visible from the train are something like acrylic panels, not concrete.

I was referring to the concrete jungle that is the open air carpark on the western end... Not the building itself. The Women's and Children's Hospital plans will make this disappear.

One issue that I have with it is that the southern face (as viewed coming down West Tce) has pretty much zero articulation or interest (particularly the roofline). It's essentially a steel and glass rectangular monolith.
Hospitals needn't be so mundane. But I guess at least we'll all be better for the facilities it contains.

At least by the time it is opened the landscaping will have settled in nicely.

I think as far as hospitals go overall it looks pretty damn good. The Northern side is pretty average, the eastern side looks brilliant. You wouldn't except less for 2.1b
