Isn't that just KD's rail contract? KD still has the hills bus contract through Southlink.

It is, but we'll see if they keep buses with the Malinauskas Government wanting to eventually return buses to public hands.cocoiadrop wrote:Isn't that just KD's rail contract? KD still has the hills bus contract through Southlink.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
There is no chance of the DIT getting the contract back, unless all the CNGs buses are retired. This may not have been the main reason behind privatisation in the first place. But it will definitely coincide with their immediate withdrawal. Nobody wants to catch a loud and audible CNG bus through a 100 zone in any circumstances.
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
What are you talking about? The CNG buses are Government owned.MT269 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 6:55 pmThere is no chance of the DIT getting the contract back, unless all the CNGs buses are retired. There had been talk about tweaking Gawler line timetables and connecting bus service timetables given the Gawler line is now operating electric trains exclusively.notmichaeljfox wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 8:53 amThe full list of updates on 29 January have been released. Lots of changes to the buses going through Flinders Medical Centre from August 25. Some are due to the new interchange/hospital expansion, some seem to be a review of services in the area. https://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/about- ... ge-changes

Adelaide-based bus company BusTech placed in administration
Adelaide bus manufacturer BusTech has been placed in voluntary administration, putting jobs at risk and jeopardising the state government’s attempts to renew its ageing fleet.
Adelaide-based bus manufacturer BusTech has been placed in voluntary administration, putting more than 100 jobs at risk, as well as the state government’s plans to renew its ageing fleet with more energy-efficient vehicles.
Administrators Greyhouse Partners were appointed as voluntary administrators on Monday and said the company, which has manufacturing bases at Edinburgh in South Australia, as well as in Queensland, would continue to trade.
Voluntary administrator Ben Verney said the company employed more than 100 staff across its manufacturing sites and was Australia’s second-largest independent bus manufacturer, constructing “diesel, hybrid and zero emission technology buses for the urban route and school markets’’.
“The administrator is looking for funding support from key stakeholders including customers and landlords, to enable the companies to continue trading throughout the administration period,’’ Mr Verney said.
“During this time, options for a sale of business or restructure via a deed of company arrangement will be explored and considered.’’
He said a creditors’ report would be issued in around four weeks and a creditors’ meeting would be held on August 22.
The company is owned by Fusion Capital, the company behind building a supercar in Adelaide and was formerly known as Brabham Automotive.
In January, the state government announced an $11.8 million contract with BusTech to manufacture 16 hybrid buses on chassis supplied by Swedish company Scania. At the time the state government said the new buses would be rolled out over the three years and would run on new routes servicing schools including Morialta Secondary College, Riverbanks College and Aldinga Payinthi College.
In January, Adelaide Metro also announced it was expanding services to the Adelaide Hills as part of a $19 million election commitment to deliver 15 new hybrid-diesel buses.
The previous Liberal government signed a contract for 350 buses to be delivered by 2029, of which 100 have been delivered so far with another 20 in production.
Transport Minister Tom Koutsantonis said on Tuesday it was “always disappointing to see a local business in this situation’’.
“BusTech is continuing to operate while under voluntary administration, and existing production targets remain on track,’’ Mr Koutsantonis said.
“However, the responsibility for meeting contractual obligations with the State Government ultimately rests with Scania.’’
Scania was contacted for comment.

From the Adelaide Metro website
Extra bus services for the Adelaide Hills
From Sunday 25 August 2024, an additional 384 weekly AM and PM peak express services will be introduced from Mount Barker via the South Eastern Freeway.
Together with the additional services that were introduced earlier this year, this means Adelaide Hills commuters will enjoy almost 600 more trips each week – a 42 per cent increase in trips between the city and the Hills.
These express services will be re-numbered to provide a consistent and easy to understand route numbering system:
T800 (previously T840/840X/T843) - will follow the same route and stopping pattern as the T840 service, with the addition of Stop 1 on Glen Osmond Road providing better access for residents and businesses close to Greenhill Road.
The T800 will be a new 7-day Go Zone with services at least every 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm on weekdays, including every six minutes in peak periods, and half-hourly at night and on weekends
801 and T801 (previously 864/864F) – will follow the same route and stopping pattern as current 864 service between Mount Barker and City. On weekdays, semi-express T801 services will allow passengers to always board and alight at Stop 13, 8, 5 and 1 Glen Osmond Road, however services will not stop at intermediate stops. Affected passengers can use alternative services at their existing stop, walk from the designated stops on Glen Osmond Road or transfer from the service to an all-stops service (Route 861) at Stop 13 Glen Osmond Road. Route 801 services will stop at all stops between Mount Barker and City during early morning, nights and weekends.
The improvements to routes T800, 801 & 863 will improve services throughout peak hours, as well as early mornings, nights and weekends, including more buses servicing Royal Adelaide Hospital.
All Adelaide Hills bus services, except routes 820, 821 and 822, have had minor timing changes to facilitate improved connections between local services and the new high frequency routes.
The new routes will stop at Crafers Park ’n’ Ride, almost doubling the amount of weekday services that are currently available, including 18 extra trips during the morning peak and 22 in the afternoon.
These service improvements will not only provide additional capacity at peak times, including around school times, but will also run more often both early in the morning and late at night, seven days a week.
Stage one improvements launched in January 2024 and included the introduction of a 15-minute service during the weekday interpeak period between Mount Barker and the City, providing a significantly improved frequency compared to the previous hourly weekday interpeak service. 26 services were also introduced on Sundays, bringing Sunday services to the same frequency as Saturdays.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
Does this have similarities to the proposed network-wide reshuffle that was scrapped?

The map for the FMC bus stop changes has been released. They take place tomorrow.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
I wonder what the reason was for not building the new bus interchange next to the railway station... seems another missed opportunity to me to make the system more cohesive
