No, shame on our dodgy government which tolerates this sort of thing while resisting calls for an ICAC.

Adelaide oval port v Melbourne
Tickertape parade for Melbourne??
The picture is on the eastern side nearly up to Victoria Square - that's a fairly extensive closure.
Umm...it's not - it's outside the empty CML building on the western side between Hindley and Currie Sts. I mistook the former AMP building for the former Reserve Bank building.

Well, the Port game at AO starts at 2.40 that day and will be finished before 6.30.
But that sign looks like a road works sign given it's yellow with black text..?
I can't imagine they'll close King William street for the football?
Unless it's the councils way of getting back at the government over the whole AO redevelopment? The date and time do coincide with the first AFL game at AO

From the council website
04 Sep AFL Port Power vs Melbourne
Location: Various Locations
Time: 03:00pm to 06:30pm
King William Road between North Terrace and Kermode Street, Victoria Drive between King William Road and Kintore Avenue, War Memorial Drive between Sir Edwin Smith Ave and Frome Road, Sir Edwin Smith Ave between King William Road and Kermode Street, Pennington Terrace between Sir Edwin Smith Ave and Montefiore Hill, Montefiore Hill between Palmer Place and Jeffcott Street
04 Sep AFL Port Power vs Melbourne
Location: War Memorial Drive and Victor Richardson Road
Time: 08:00am to 06:30pm
War Memorial Drive between Montefiore Road and King William Road, Victor Richardson Road in its entirety
Seems a bit over the top to close King William Road... does this happen for the cricket aswell?.
The Adelaide Oval Redevelopment concept did show plans of only allowing buses along King William Road, maybe this is a test?

I'll be going, so it'll be interesting to see how the game and the atmosphere turns out.
I'd expect a sell-out - not because it's Port, and not because it's Melbourne - but purely because people, like me, are keen to seen what AFL at AO will be like.
P.S - Go Melbourne!

Big, big, big recommendation to all of you to get behind reading up on and support InDaily (formerly the Independent Weekly) as an alternative news source to AdelaideNow/The Advertiser. It's wholly online, and interactive! Nifty stuff.

hey shuz, the printed (weekly) newspaper is called the Independent Weekly, the online version is InDaily. It's a quality read with journalists who endeavour to be objective - no sensationalist crap.
The printed version comes out each friday - agree it's worth supporting.
