First hole drilled for new Superway
Drilling machinery starts work on the elevated South Road Superway (ABC News: Angelique Johnson)
The first hole has been drilled for the structure to support the $812 million South Road Superway in Adelaide's north.
Transport Minister Pat Conlon marked the drilling of the first hole for the pillars to support the new elevated road.
"This project will create a great deal of work for local firms, for local people before its conclusion in about 2013," he said.
"[I'm] very pleased to kick off with the drilling of the first 27-metre pier."
When finished, the 2.8-kilometre elevated road will connect the Port River Expressway and Regency Road.
The Superway is being jointly funded by the Federal and State Governments.

A site office has been setup at the intersection of Hanson Road & Grand Junction Road, Wingfield.
Works have started on 'improvements to traffic flow' given that this is now a detour route for the Superway and a main feeder road to/from the PREXY.

Will it be possible to live next to the Superway
and under the airport flight path?

Either iTouch lives in a factory or I'm confused as to where this actually is.

No you're not, you're just not thinking straight. Consider the possibility that iTouch lives on a hill overlooking a large area of the Adelaide plains - including the Superway.

Well the dozen odd houses along Days Road between Cowan and Murray Streets are literally just across the road from it, so yes

Is there any freight train noise?

I realise in reality this project isn't that great in the grand scheme of things
but t have a road like that in Adelaide still amazes me, I would love to see it extended to become even more useful to the potential users.

That render shows 6 lanes south of Grand Junction Road. Were the previous ones only 4 lanes for that section ?
Driving through the works today, there was a drill rig at the northern end of the project.

I live in the area(a little further away from the streets in question) and no, never heard a train. Aircraft noise is minimal. Occasional loud roar every few weeks if that, that's it really.
The area in question is about 1km away from the freight terminal, with a lot of industry and warehouses in between.

It's still pretty grand in the national spotlight. Once complete it will be one of the longest bridges/elevated highways in the country.

The area's not called Gulfview Heights for no reason
(even though technically, i live in Wynn Vale.)
