crappy the Jetstar area is at Tullamarine. It reminded me of the old Adelaide airport.
So you've encountered the part of terminal 1 I affectionately call 'the shithole' as well!
It's rather depressing when you see the nice shiny fancy gates of Qantas, then you have to go down the stairs, and it's literally like going down into the deep pits of hell!
Having said that, if that's the tradeoff for discount air fares, then so be it.

Try flying Tiger into Melbourne. The kilometre long walk to the 'shed' where they conduct their business is deplorable.
It makes the area that Jetstar fly into look 5 star.

A Subway at the airport would be good, just not the sandwich kind.

Agreed the current T4 at Melbourne is a shocker, but that's in the process of being replaced and connected to T3 at the moment.

Anyone know why EK441 departed Adelaide at 8:50am this morning? Is this the first time it has been caught out by the curfew?

Looks like the incoming flight left Dubai almost half a day behind schedule and so didn't arrive into Adelaide until around 6am. Hence the 8:50am departure back to Dubai. I couldn't tell you why, though.

was it always AAL's intention to fit out the plaza with all of these additional features like shops and water features? I'm not opposed to it as the empty plaza is a total waste of space but the whole construction process seems very disjointed and leads me to believe the add on's were an after-thought. It seems stupid to lay fresh patterned concrete, and then weeks later, cut it up again to install a fountain and shops.
water feature has been under construction for almost 4 months now too...

Much of the whole new setup feels disjointed, not just the plaza. That said I am not necessary being negative nor critical of it, it is by leaps and bounds more up to date and sleek than what existed previously. That bus stop though...

Bad fog rolled into Dubai Airport yesterday morning.

Quite surprised by this, would have preferred to see the heritage plane display moved within the plaza.
Was always annoyed that they positioned Qantas Club where they did in the new terminal; would have preferred to see that and the Virgin Lounge be positioned on a level above the terminal building offer views of the run-way/tarmac and open up more room for a food court and larger retail spaces.
Also, I hope On The Run somehow acquire the United Service Station on the site; bulldoze and re-build something modern.

You will probably find that all of this ^ will happen in time.

Not at all surprised that air Asia is going to be flying daily.
I thought they might opt for a split timetable the way Malaysia airlines have done, eg 4 flights per week arriving in KL at 4pm and the other 3 arriving earlier or later. This could double the number of fly thru flights they could offer since the second timeslot would connect to different flights.
