City West stop from Morphett Street Bridge. Very nearly complete bar some paving and the shelter.


And on the ground. Of note are the concrete blocks on the platform. These have been installed at all stops (including Victoria Square), these I understand are going to form part of the seating and have bolt holes in the top.

One thing I have noticed is they're not installing target boards around the majority of traffic lights, especially any set with more than three lamps. Anyone know why this is? (Target boards being the bits of plastic around the lights so they're easier to see when the sun is behind them)

I haven't read back through this topic, but does anyone know when the tram overpass at South Road is scheduled to start?

From what I know, the tramway overpass over South Road would be complete by 2010-2011 or there abouts.

I'd imagine that they'd be covered and that they're just waiting to install the lighting etc so that they can pull through/access the wiring before they do it.

Not only that but for the sake of preventing corrosion after some heavy rain If the water seeps into the beam and settles down rusting away at the frame, then that shelter is buggered.

i would asume said beam is galvanised steel

Here are some shots of further testing tonight.
H Types 367/351 successfully made two trips to the single track section near the Morphett St bridge.
Staff were verifying that the traffic lights were triggered by the tram and all appeared to work well.
Testing began in Victoria Square around 8pm and concluded on North Tce at 10:15.

I was for once able to photograph the test run and was also with BillD from North Terrace to City West. Great fun running against the H set all the way from Victoria Square, best exercise I have had in a while! In addition to these photographs, I shot off a stack full of video (probably 8 minutes worth along the whole line) which will be on youtube later on this week. Going on about video footage, there was another media camera on site last night so keep your eyes peeled to the news. I forgot to take my tripod with me but I did manage to get some good, clear shots but they were hard. Try having a camera with a wide aperature, long shutter time and then have a strong pulse in the hand!

At the railway station on the return run, I bumped into Rod Hook himself and briefly talked to him about the extension. Driver familiarisation runs will be starting from this Saturday. Unlike the test runs, these driver training runs will be during daylight hours everyday from Saturday with between 1-3 runs planned a day. That is what I was told anyway by him. Anyway, photos.

Morphett Street Bridge. This was as far as the trams went on the first test run (there were two last night, BillD and I got the first one), however, on the second one later on, the trams went into City West to test both platform 'roads'.
