The Victoria Square building was due to be demolished in a couple of years, about the time Festival Plaza is meant to open (at least that was the case pre-covid).
The old Reserve Bank building? Fair bit of heritage value to it, can't see that getting demolished without a big fight.
I was surprised when I heard, but we were told it was part of the reason for moving the campus (I'll be moving there). Not that I will personally mind - I find the current building unpleasant to work in.
At one point, the building was really close to having both Flinders and Services Australia as major tenants.

I’m pretty sure that building is heritage listed.

State Heritage listed, no less:

The Victoria Square fountain has the same heritage listing as well, didn't stop them moving it to the southern side.

Somehow I can’t see this building being moved elsewhere just a slightly different scale and purpose.

If work is going to start soon on the world class tower, then why did they take the cranes down ?

C'mon, man, you're not an idiot. You know as well as I do that none of those cranes were positioned for the construction of this building, and their type would also likely obstruct the flight path.

They probably need a different type of crane, and need to locate them in a different location for the tower.

Soon is subjective. What's soon to them may not be soon to you.

by how good is he
I can’t see any trees or shade and not sure why hasn’t there been more money/ effort on landscaping. Could be a concrete heat bowl in summer and cold & desolate in winter.
