As it's Charter Hall who lodged the application I thought it was worth having a look at their website:
http://www.charterhall.com.au/Homepage
Really good to see them investing in the SA property market, I'm assuming it's part of their office REIT, and I think it's a really positive reflection of the changing economy here.
Crumbling my arse (and no I'm not over it yet).

More concerning is that the chopping of 2 floors could indicate that this design is not what will be used for this proposal.

There is no reason why it would be, the only common factor between the old and new proposals is the site location.
But, like everyone, I really hope the old proposal will be resurrected in some form.

It's important to note the proposal is for 22 levels of office and 2 levels of basement carparking totalling 24 levels, so there is every chance it could be the same proposal.

Like everyone else, hoping the original design is the one that is still pertinent. Charter Hall look like they produce some outstanding designs. I had come to the conclusion it was all dreaming. Impressed

Ben, could it mean the ground floor (retail) is possibly a 23rd level? What about plant levels? At least one or maybe two? If those levels are not counted, it is possible it will look like the rendering (which looks like about 24-25 levels above ground). The exterior framework will definitely make the height of 115metres very plausible. For those that don't know. The Grenfell Centre's antenna tops off at approx. 115metres above ground. That will give you an indication of the total height of this development.
Like many here I hope the original design goes ahead. Although not the most original design it would still make a huge impression on the Adelaide skyline. I, for one, would like to see this happen. Hope the developers and architects are reading our comments.
Cheers

Hey guys, I have some bad news and some good news: The bad news is that I emailed Charter Hall asking for a more up to date version of this project.
Here they are:
It its been dumbed down, cheapened and cut down in height.
The good news is that I bought a 2l tub of cookies and cream ice cream for $3.20 at Foodland as depression food because of this proposal.

Looks .. less good... Are you sure it hasn't been "stupided up"?
(You can't possibly eat all that on your own. Gimme some.)

Wow, boring, dated and ugly even in render, that's some effort. Imagine the reality of those vertical and horizontal supports.
Lost for words....from brilliant to bland in one post.
Congrats on the ice cream though. Hope it's working. I may go for KFC.

Looks like it is very close to the 18 floors so many bldgs have - again! Seems like a huge barrier at that level. Not a touch on the previous design but good to have something as a serious proposal.

It appears that the new proposal will contain the same amount of space in total, as it appears that the development now includes the vacant lot behind it on Gawler Place.
This is dissapointing really, because although there is a demand for office space in Adelaide, our skyline is not reflecting this. I am sick of all these fat stumpy buildings. They look crap and add nothing to the skyline.
