For me I think its the colour in the renders and now the model. It doesn't suit with the orange/copper features. Just my opinion. Would love to see this built in any case.

Looking good. No blank walls!

Includes a roof top bar aswell. Views would be insane, better than 2KW

Only recently have I started to read these applications more thoroughly. Three things I noticed with this:

1. The other apartment building planned by the same developer on the other side of Carrington Street (still on KWS) is around 100m tall.
2. There application in the street-view seems to recognise other potential developments on the properties to the south of Echleon, whereas with the street-view shot of the opposite side of KWS the only proposed building shown is the Law Courts precinct. Coincidence or something yet to come?
3. In the close up renders of the ground floor retail there appears to be a Rebel Sport and Subway. Is it possible that they've signed up tenants for these spaces already or simply using stock photos for aesthetic purposes?

I'm a fan of this. We need more 100m+ talls in the CBD!

Artist's impressions have a long history of putting fake or random brands on their renders. I wouldn't pay any attention to it.

Oh WOW!! What's that clear blue material this one seems to be constructed with on all four sides?

This one was deferred.
RESOLVED
1. That a decision in respect of the application be deferred, in recognition of the importance of this landmark site and its potential to influence future development, to enable the following:
  • Provision of more detailed contextual information that shows the proposal in an accurate representation of the existing streetscape and wider city views.
  • Further refinement of the design to see this better respect the scale and proportions of the desired character of the locality and that of adjacent and surrounding buildings.
  • Provision of further information on the following matters of detail:
  • Refinement of apartment floor amenity conditions (specifically, refinement of the interface between the balcony in apartment type S6 and the communal corridor)
  • Provision of additional information regarding the means of screening cars and headlight glare from view from outside of the proposed building
  • Clarification of measures to ensure privacy of the swimming pool and surrounds.
  • Reconsideration of the convenience of bike parking.

This point worries me {better respect the scale and proportions of the desired character of the locality} as the buildings adjacent to this proposal are embarrassingly inappropriate, some to the south at one level!!! for a major city boulevard. If anything this development should be a catalyst to more larger, bulkier buildings creating an impressive spine down KWS.

Totally agree. Much of the area seems quite run down and inappropriate for 21st c bldgs in a major thoroughfare. Its sleek modern appearance befits such an area. Other new high rise will complement this soon enough - as further south. KWS I thought had allowance now for such height. Perhaps a scale meant to be more suited to the area would be....the traditional 18 floors (stuck in a rut 40 years ago). I hope it gets through. Was at the site only a few days ago and noticed the other two associated bldgs reduce any starkness of height. Seems to me any 30+ floor bldg in Adelaide would provide the same issues re the surrounds.
