Oh wow, something with a curve, even if it's just one corner it will be a welcome change to the boxy Adelaide skyline. Height is also decent, should block out Westpac a bit.

Being the economics nerd that I am, I have a fairly strong feeling that Adelaide and S.A may dodge that bullet in the above article. Firstly, although we've seen a large increase in apartment construction here, it's been nowhere near that of the eastern state where there's a huge apartment glut. If our population started to increase even slightly faster then there is plenty of room for more to be built here, which is on the cards as unemployment is falling rapidly here meaning more jobs are being created.

Secondly, the S.A economy and most importantly, confidence, seems to be on the up and up. The recent ship building announcements, mining investment, advanced manufacturing and the biomedical precinct are starting to get attention outside of the state. Add to that a new State Govt. that is reducing taxes on business and removing red tape. It should all add up to more demand for office space in our CBD and the need for some new towers.

Thirdly, our property prices are still relatively affordable, and haven't seen anywhere near the growth that's happened on the east coast. As those markets start to cool, like they are now, it's only a matter of time before investors start looking elsewhere for some bargains. It's called the ripple effect, and it's already happening in Tasmania, with Hobart the current property hotspot for growth (I think Hobarts median price is on par with Adelaide now). It makes sense that Adelaide should be next.

Anyways, I hope this tower gets built as the design is decent and the location is excellent for such a building.

Yes... Most proposals do. Realm had a 70-odd page proposal. It's not uncommon.

Wow, that render looks much nicer than the previous one. And I'm digging that sky lobby. Someone should Photoshop the Sofitel Hotel building into the background of that scene. Currie St is going to look very different in a few years time!

Is that the tenant thats the furniture store? The Art Deco building? That proposal looked very average, I hope there’s a revised design.

This was approved today.

Some good points in this article. I'd certainly like to see some of these old buildings on North Terrace and around the city either rebuilt or repurposed.

At 132.4 metres, it will be 40 centimetres taller than Westpac House, giving it bragging rights over the city's relatively low skyline.

The ABC seems to have forgotten that it excitedly announced that Adelaidean would be 2 metres taller than Westpac House, and has already started construction. Even if this approval leads to immediate work on construction, it is unlikely to ever be more than third-highest.

Adelaidean is 134 m (or 135 m, sources seem to conflict), this is 132.4, Realm is 131.7 and Westpac is 131.6. So unless good old DOMINATOR or another proposal comes up, I'm fairly sure this one will be the second tallest should it go ahead.

Anyway, I like this one overall, especially the curved south east corner. Not sure if it's intentional, but it kind of "harks back" to the curved south east corner of the Bank of Australiasia building that once existed on this site - a real head scratcher that they knocked that amazing building down for what's currently there.

Realm Adelaide = 132m - 40 floors
74-79 KWS = 132m - 39 floors
Westpac House = 132m - 31 floors

It might be "taller" than Westpac, but it certainly won't have bragging rights over the skyline.

You do have to walk up a slope from street level of Currie Street and there are steps from King William.

There is no way that there is 4m of height difference from one side of Currie St to the other. There is a mistake there somewhere.
