They're probably more in it for the land ownership and retail arm than the fuel. Most of the profit comes from what's sold inside the store. The fuel side just allows them to trade 24/7.

Absolutely ridiculous. Only a small portion of that would be people who genuinely need a vehicle of that size, the rest it's just an inane arms race.

The death of Australian car manufacturing has been very harmful for the vehicles on our roads.

I've also noticed a big increase in the number of ridiculously oversized utes, which very visibly are just for drivers to play a dick measuring contest, and not for commercial or work purposes.

I agree with the retail aspect which you mentioned, service stations have definitely become the new version of the deli/corner shop. Fuel must be still increasing in demand even though cars are becoming more fuel efficient, as mentioned above people are demanding larger cars i.e SUV's..... which makes you wonder how many people who claim to care about climate change still choose to drive a larger car.

Most kids need to be in child car seats or booster seat.
Eg all of them under 8 and potentially some up to 16.
There is slim chance you can fit 3 kids in a mazda3 if even 1 of them needs to be in a child car seat.

I just used Mazda 3 as an example i'm talking any non SUV vehicle.

With modern laws with so many kids in car seats there is really no choice.

An Outlander can not fit 3 kids if 1 is in a car seat.
You need a Pajero.

I agree, but there are reasons why people need something that is not a small car, so larger ones seem to get the SUV market. I don’t know if there are more European larger sedans that we just can’t get.

Shell has revenue globally of over $260 billion USD, Caltex which is Chevron (which you obviously don't know) has over $160 billion USD in global revenue, but they cant survive in little old Adelaide, because of OTR & XConvenience.


OTR & X Convenience are doing more then simply selling petrol. That's why they are thriving.
But you don't have the intelligence to understand that.

If you look at Mobil X Convenience outlets they have roadhouse food inside i.e Hotbox and Burger X. Many of the Shell service stations used to have roadhouse in them. West Lakes and West Terrace has Hungry Jacks in them. Maybe they need to pair up with a fast food chain or sell their own hot pizzas etc.
