Some answers would be good Pat. Also the TransAdelaide colour scheme makes buses, trams, trains look old and fuggly. Its time it changed.

How about we adopt the new blue and red trams colour scheme as the official colour scheme and had a small strip of yellow if you want to
keep to the state colours... Mostly White and Yellow is YUKKKKKK...

Or perhaps instead of jumping to the nearest conspiracy theory, some rational thinking could be applied, such as perhaps they will be using a different engine with a lower top speed?
Does it really matter if they travel at 115 or 130km/h? It's not like trains are held up by road traffic.

The state colours have been done to death over the years, time to invest into a new colour scheme.

They dont look too bad, i was afraid that we'd get something crap, but this seems to be the typical Australian train design thesedays which looks decent for a commuter train. One good thing is they look like they're about 3cars long for each train. The only bad thing is the 110km/h speed limit, sure it's better than 90km/h but on the gawler line i'd expect to see higher 140km/h speeds.

I'm curious though, is it 66 three-car trains or is it 22 three car trains?

It'd be 22 3-car sets (assuming that they are all part of 3-car consists). 66 3-car sets is overkill considering the current network has about 95 railcars. If they're just using 3-car sets, it's going to be interesting to see how they run them in peak hours if they decide to run 6-car trains since many of the stations can't take trains longer than 4 cars any more.

Its not Pat's nor the Tracks fault.
Two basic reasons:
1) State speed limit is 110, and some idiot made that apply to everything including trains. Laws need changing.
2) Safety concerns with level crossings, grade separation would solve that, doable for Noarlunga Gawler lines given enough money.

Fix those two things and higher speeds are possible.

The B-series trains in Perth were purchased for the Mandurah and Joondalup lines. That's according to the universal source.

From the video all looks good, except possibly those seats. Dont look too comfortable. On a long trip like Seaford Meadows to City or Gawler to City, i can see a few sore behinds.
Maybe its a ploy? make the seats as uncomfortable as possible to make people stand. Less maintenance then required.

A little disappointed in the exterior design. Don't like the bulbous shaped fronts on these railcars. A more streamlined shape would have been more appealling. Also why do we have to have the corrugated panels on the sides? Together with the state colour scheme these have been with us too long. We need something that won't date so quick. Anyway that's my two pennies worth...

What happened to the colour scheme from the original render of the Seaford Rail Extension?? The blue and yellow looked way better.

A segment on the Channel Nine news tonight mentioned they'll never achieve their top speed of 110kmh. There was no mention of express runs. Surely it should be possible on the newly upgraded tracks and on an express run? Those of you in the know, what is the truth?
