the Superway seems to be exceptionally wide (Maybe even wider then Port Road). Say if Adelaide suddenly gets a huge amount of money in the far off future and the demand was there, do you think that it could be possible to have a waterway or canal running straight under the elevated road until regency road where it then goes somewhere else to connect to the Torrens River?

It would be ridiculously expensive for practically no benefit, and the demand would never ever be there, but if money's not a limiting factor then almost anything is technically possible, including that.

For what reason? You realise that even at its highest levels the actual Torrens River is almost, but not quite, navigable by canoe? We call it a river, it's more of a creek that occasionally floods.

I'm confused by something. Could just be my sheer ignorance. The piers going up all seem to line up from the South and first one across GJ road lines up. Then the 2nd pier north of GJ road is offset? Is this a ramp? Nearmap shows what I'm talking about.

It appears to be an on ramp starting near the Caltex servo, as described here:

Looking at the Superway video, the north and south bound elevated carriageways north of GJ Rd appear to be further apart. This would probably be the reason for the piers being offset.

Looking at the Dec 7 Nearmap, there does seem to be a definite 'offset' from the first pier after GJ road right through to Senna Road where it appears to 'kink' back in line with the piers from Regency Road end. It could be they needed to offset the roadway at that point, to allow for an on ramp, at the Caltex. Though it was my understanding there was no 'on' or 'off' between the expressway and Regency Road.

IIRC, the Superway is being constructed with provision for widening.

If anyone wants to see a big detour of a diversion of South Road, check out the section just north of Grand Junction Road on Nearmap (14th Jan). I would hate to be a semi driver negotiating those four 90 degree turns one after another!

Anyone here been affected by Compulsory Acquisition with any of these projects? I'm wondering what sort of 'compensation', after home values etc.. it looked at/offered? I can't find too much information onlline, other than the actual acts.

The only land that would have been acquired is probably a slice of the golf course near days road.
There aren'y any houses along that part of South Road, and I haven't noticed any businesses that have lost land.
Anzac Hwy underpass though they did acquire some property/land.

AIUI it's being constructed with provision for adding another lane each way, but not for widening the structure.
