The interior and the name (west building? couldn't they come up with anything better??) of this building are just as ordinary as the exterior.

Was this part inspired by underground railway stations? not the batcave below.. but more like those in more developed countries..

I would say that as a Convention Centre that hosts a range of events with hundreds if not thousands of people attending they picked a carpet that doesn't show mess. That would be my reasoning for that pattern, even if it is kind of hideous. (i.e it won't show up the plethora of champagne and crumb spillage)

Personally I love that style of carpet! It's all a matter of personal preference.

This would have looked fine if it wasn't for the brown cladding. Should have been all metallic silvers, greys and plenty of glass. The angled design is reminiscent of famous landmarks like the Denver Art Museum or Disney Music Hall in the US which are striking buildings. In fact they could have gone even more crazy with angles, have some element hang over Morphett Bridge or towards North Terrace, something that would stand out, similar to Melb Exhibition Centre. Hindsight.

When I saw stage 1 being constructed last year I didn't like it at all, but now it's all finished
I think it looks quite good.

It definitely looks better from some angles than others. It looks especially nice from the trainlines on the way into town.

I agree. I think it looks good from the east, looking down from King William st/ torrens end. As someone mentioned earlier the design is good enough it's just the colour scheme they got wrong. Black, charcoal and greys may have looked better. Maybe when the area builds up with other developments it will not be so overwhelming from the west

The barrier on the Morphett Street side is down and has been replaced with something a lot more transparent. Now you can see the footpath out the front of it and how the building's frontage looks along Morphett St. Check it out if you're in the area!

I went and did a tour today and really enjoyed it. I would encourage anyone who is slightly interested
to go there over the next couple of days. The Made in SA event is on tomorrow and saturday and the
tours are still running. It's impressive inside with great views.
