I don't know if the panelling crossing the windows there is to insulate against the heat of the western sun, but they look awkward and ruin the outlook.

I hate to nitpick (thanks Xara for the photos!) but couldn't they have aligned the loading dock with the car park entrance? That looks like a pedestrian nightmare at street level.

I think the highlight for me from the whole development is the interaction with the morphett st bridge. Feels much less like an isolated 'get me the hell out of the west end' bypass now (although i guess technically this is the 'get me the hell out of north adealide' side) with something actually fronting onto it.
Now just need to hide the eyesore that scars the ground between the bridge and the hopsital!

convention center is!! I heard it is not completed yet. Its photographs have also not posted anywhere. Hey Phantom, where did you get all these pictures of this Adelaide convention center?
I got them from their Facebook page. It's where I was keeping tabs on how complete it all was.
Mshagg, I agree. For me, having both the Convention Centre abut the Morphett St bridge and hiding the trainlines, (while also creating more of an "underground" feel for the rail commuters) was/is fantastic from this development. Ideally, I'd love for the medical precinct to somehow climb over the railway on the western side and create a riverbank extension all the way up to the miniature dam thing. I'm sure the state government would make it into some "native wetland" and name it something like "Reconciliation Wetland" (or something ridiculous that makes it seem like segregation is still an issue and not something we've been actively working on to address). The thing is, with a massive medical precinct being where it is, I can't actually think of what types of buildings could be placed alongside them to keep with the theme. Having a research lab and medical school on site with the hospital is absolutely fantastic, but I'm struggling to think of what else could be there, too...

Work is progressing on demolishing the original convention centre. The roof has been removed from some sections. It is a bit hard to get a clear photo of the site.

There's now four black mobile 'cranes' on site. One at each corner of the existing Exhibition Building. SE corner has roof and second floor gutted. Demolition is progressing quickly.

With the demolition of the original Convention Centre, will portions if the 'roof' covering the train station platforms also be removed? Or will the new building make use of the existing footings?

I've been wondering the same thing too.
I know that Platform 9 will be closed shortly - One obviously assumes this has to do with the Plenary Hall works. Whether or not this is for new support structures or not - that I don't know.

Platform 9 will be closed shortly? How did you hear about this?
I caught the train this morning and there were two suits wearing hi-vis vests with 'Land Lease' written on the back. They appeared to be looking at plans while gesturing towards the roof. This made me think that maybe it has something to do with the Convention Centre.

The first stage of the expansion was a bit of a let down IMO
What happened to the river facing eateries?

I am not impressed by the fact that the convention centre just grabbed the inside lane on the south bound side on the Morphett St bridge; as if the traffic is not bad enough already . I am sure this was not in the original plans.
