Sad news for foodies
The David Jones Foodhall in Rundle Mall will close its doors on Friday, January 26.

The department store told staff last week and is in negotiations on redundancies and redeployment and is unable to guarantee future employment

The Foodhall, a key part of the DJ’s brand, is one of six around Australia in David Jones’ capital city CBD stores – but Adelaide’s is the only one marked for closure..

"The reason for this being the limited amount of retail space we have in Adelaide."
Fibs. They have been slowly reducing the range down there and replacing sections with third party operators for months now. The reason isn't limited space, it's the failure of the area to turn a profit.

Not to mention that they were the ones who built the retail space when they knocked down the Johnnies building. If they wanted more space, they should have built more floors in the first place! (A little simplistic, I know, but still -- not everyone's memory is that short.)

Never mind that they could have easily taken over all the vacant tenancies in the basement (half the food court seems to have left, and the new newsagent that took over the old newsagent space and the dick smith space has never looked like anything other than temporary).

Heck, if they're that desperate for space, why move the food hall over to the Charles Street Plaza?

Does anyone know what's going on with the small shop that has been completely demolished in Rundle Mall, directly opposite Myer's westernmost entrance? What's going in its place?

Standard shopfront. Had a render saved somewhere but seem to have lost it, it's somewhere on this thread. Had kinda of hoped it might be a shop-front for Zara but seemingly not.

I'm thrilled.
The overhead luggage compartments on Adelaide-bound flights will be free for actual luggage again.

Spurling Formalwear, yet another business on Grenfell St bites the dust, all because of that tyrannical bus lanes!
Well done minister! Now we want our money back!

How has the bus lanes killed off the business of a formalwear store? It's not like there was any on street parking that had been removed or access to the store compromised.
