What are the safety/Australian standards for barriers separating vehicle traffic from the edges of bridges? Are the old heritage-style railings even suitable for this purpose in 2017?

I wouldn't mind betting the barriers in place on the new section have been used for a reason other than cost - in that they meet the required standards to keep cars and trucks on the bridge in the event of a crash.

Before trashing the decision it might be worthwhile contacting the project team to find out the rationale behind it - it's quite possible that the old style barriers were simply not suitable for this application.

The bridge duplication is part of the project, but has been treated as an afterthought. Bridges, even small ones, are points of reference, and stick in peoples' minds, which is why even footbridges are often works of art, and not just functional. In this case, a bridge has been duplicated without any thought for how the structure (the two bridges) looks as a whole, which is not usual practice.

I believe that the portals, especially the one at Rymill Park has a greater visual impact than the bridge due to the amount of people that would see it and the general impact of the form coming out of the parklands.

The nature of the bridge, a car bridge, is also important. It doesn't need to be as asthetically pleasing as a footbridge. The footbridge next to the expanded road bridge looks great in my opinion.

I suppose there's a process for evacuation if a bus catches fire on the track.

Yes

But in general it's the artics that go up, and not necessarily track artics alone.

But in general it's the artics that go up, and not necessarily track artics alone.

On this day in 2008, a Mercedes Benz O305G by the fleet number of 582 (1582) burst into flames and was an instant write-off since it was over 20 years old.

Took advantage of the holidays and took our very excited son for a ride on the O-Bahn today. Trip through the tunnel was great, super quick to get to TTP.

However — the connection of the interchange to the shopping centre is fucking terrible, and wayfinding signage is nowhere to be found. Coming off the bus, we followed along until we ended up at the arse end of the centre (near Coles), and leaving there is literally no signage within the shopping centre directing you to what the best exit is to get to the interchange.

5 1/2 years ago, there was a tender for re-doing all the wayfinding for the three interchanges along with some graphic theming (our studio was part of an unsuccessful submission, the full project may have had more to it) — and it appears absolutely nothing came of it.

There are "wayfinding signs " at all 3 Interchanges. At least 2 at TTP that I saw a couple of months ago.

If there are then they’re not sufficient. There was nothing that we could see directing us to the shopping centre nor vice versa (although that way is Westfield’s responsibility). The only obvious signage was the zone signs.

Love how they're saying 'forced to close for repairs.' I take it the journalist failed comprehension at school.

Also, it's going to affect about half a dozen services per night. Hardly the crisis The Advertiser/Pisoni is carrying on about - and several comments on AdelaideNO have called them out on it.

I noticed in the tunnel there seems to be a mixed bag of concrete and metal walls on the tunnel's western side. Surely this will be fixed too?
