Does anyone know what the cladding material will be for this new extension … Is it copper cladding (like Adelaide Oval southern stand) or is it that brown aluminium cladding like the convention centre extension adjacent Morphett St?

I think the cladding choice will make or break this building. It can't appear too overbearing or heavy or the extension will look horrible. For this reason, I really hope it is the copper-like cladding, because I think that is important that the cladding has a degree of reflectivity that's can reflect the sun at different angles.

New steel work is being added above the massive first floor level.

Somewhere during the redevelopment of the Convention Centre the most left of 3 lanes on the Morphett Street Bridge, heading south has been lost. I thought it was just temporary, during the construction of the Western Section, but it now appears to be permanent. This is resulting in traffic banking up sometimes almost up to Colonel Light's statue. Maybe this is part of a conspiracy by Adelaide City Council to frustrate motorists and at least it will make it more difficult for those Councillors living in North Adelaide. But on a serious note, this could become a dangerous barrier for any Ambulance from North of the Torrens traveling to the new RAH.

I've noticed this also. The way they've gone about it makes it looks as though it's a temporary measure but it's clearly not. Poor planning if I may say so...

I raised the loss of one lane on the Morphett St bridge back in may see top of page 4. I think this is part of the Adelaide city council campaign against cars.

Better put our tin foil hats on.

Seriously though, if there was a campaign against cars, we wouldn't have to worry about the ACC's incompetence with the Frome Street bikeway.

I'm all for the removal of cars from the CBD grid, but I can't help but feel the loss of this lane is a show for communication breaking down between the state government and ACC.

You lost me there.

The lane closure i assume is because the new "main" entrance to the convention center is on that side. It is now a set down zone for taxi and buses plus gives pedestrians a little bit of room to poorly queue in a crowd without standing in the middle of oncoming traffic.

Maybe the lane would reopen if a fence was installed, or another main entrance is established. It really looks like the lane config in its current form is not the final configuration.

Some more steel work arriving today 20 0ct. The semi trailer carrying just one extra long column has just come across the Torrens bridge from Montefiore hill and is turning off to go down to the actual site

The steel work is being installed from the east, centre and western sides. Picture 3 Nov 2015. The crawler tower crane is on the ground being reconfigured, (near the tall tree).
