I think you people have tallness blinkers on lol ;)

This is the interesting bit;
VARIATION - amended facade to Rundle Mall facade, alterations to appearance including change in layout of offices and car parking (Level 3 podium) and reconfigured balcony locations (Levels 7, 9, 11 and 13) - STAGE 4 - ARCHITECTURAL & SERVICES WORKS (RETAIL LEVELS)
Anyone know what this means for the result?
Changes to the Rundle facing facade, is this to incorporate the mooted "Apple look"?
And change in layout of offices and car parking, I guess this is internal fitout? Hopefully not just more carparking.

Changes to the desgn of buildings that have already been approved and are already under construction should not be permitted except in extreme unusual circumstances (such as where sticking to the original plans would be completely unviable for the business due to circumstances which were unforeseeable at the time of commencing construction).

Otherwise we end up with poorly thought through afterthoughts which often turn out ugly.

How close is this building to being topped-out? I find it hard to judge the height considering the very long, rectangular shape (even when trying to compare it with the surrounding buildings).

I think that there is still two more rises to go, judging by my floor quick count this morning.

Glass was being installed for the windows on the second floor of the Apple store yesterday, which is a bit different from the renders that we have seen. I'll grab a pic next time I'm in town!

I really hope Apple is open prior to Christmas. We need the mall frontage stores to be open. it's just so dead. So much for the "pop up stalls" along the hoarding...

I thought Apple's proposal was rejected, due to the average design?

This one is having quite the impact from the north. It blocks out the former SA Water House quite a bit.

And, sorry to bring it up again, but are 'those in the know' absolutely sure that this one is only going to be 16 levels? It looks, to me anyways, taller than that - 19 levels as per the original DA. I haven't gone and counted the floors myself, but given that the former SA Water House is 94m tall, or something like that - this looks to be about 70/75m already, and people have commented that there seems to be another 2/3 rises to go yet, which would bring it up closer to the 90m mark?

I think it is 19 lvls in total. 15 levels of office and 4 of retail.
demolish existing buildings and construct a 19 storey building comprising 4 storeys of retail (including basement) and 15 storeys of office accommodation
and to answer crawf, Apple's store was approved by the DAC

Sorry guys, it's 15 levels.

Image

The reason it looks taller than 15 levels, is that the first 4 retail floors have a huge floor-to-floor heights between them.

I'm pretty sure Apple is in, as they're clearly leaving space while putting the rest of the facade up. I don't think the issue was ever with the design, just the lack of cover.
