Whilst this project is not fantastic, it is a big improvement on what was there previously. The building does not have a shortage of tenants especially now GHD has moved in as well. Tenants are mainly concerned with internals such as lifts, toilets and floor plans not external appearances. Externals do play a part but internal fitouts are obviously the key.

Looks like some form of changes are proposed to the orginal application (not sure what the changes are exactly):
Development Application Received
Application Number: DA/206/2007/A
Lodgement Date: 12/05/2008
Location: 205-219 Victoria Square, ADELAIDE SA 5000
Description: Variation to existing authorisation for upgrade of existing building including new facade, replacement of windows and internal upgrade - new windows to existing building known as "211 Victoria Square"

Sounds like they are adding windows where there previously were no windows?

And a confirmed change of facade!
We'll just have to wait and see now.

Wouldn't that just be the changed bottom section and new windows? The picture of the completed redevelopment outside the building looks like that's all they're doing.
A great improvement yes, but damn I hate that concrete look. Anyone to do the Hilton now?

This building is still ugly as hell if you ask me.

That podium looks out of place and looks 'cheap'

Not a fan sorry.

yep, looks wierd - like putting a pretty mini skirt on an old woman (apologies in advance if anyone is offended by my analogy)
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

C'mon lads, give it the benefit of the doubt, and judge it once it's complete. I'm sure once the concrete is painted it'll end up looking better.

Notice I said better, not great!
Walking on over....

Yeah I agree Pikey. Wait and see once it is finished. The podium looks good so far. They really need to do something with the sandstone coloured cement but the original render seems to show it remaining the same. Maybe the recently lodged amendments will change this. We can only hope.

What they should have done before replacing the windows is give the sandstone cladding a good (steam) clean. :)

The sad thought is that if Mr. jk1237 were to have turned his head ever so slightly to the right, all we'd see is another 21 stories of the same f'ing green glass. Of course, we can always look forward to CC8 filling the gap between the two with..........the same glass of a slightly different colour. Hurrah!

It definitely has improved. Before it looked like a semi completed construction with black chasms between the plate levels. (as you see without windows fitted - see pic from 19/5 above). I agree with Wayno, the podium section looks lacking - perhaps awnings and neon lighting. IMO ALL CBD bldgs should have external pedestrian cover to make them more people friendly and weather protected. (especially with such unpredictable conditions that Adelaide often gets).
