I love that entrance!
This development is very sleek, maybe the 'new' Adelaide?

If this building uses just the right sort of flush glass and hides the distinction between windows and floors, this will be a very, very good looking building - I really love the crisp simplicity and elegance of the top section. It doesn't seem to be using the obviously see-through glass of CC1, but not as reflective as the pods of CC2.

that will be a key test with such a long west facing elevation - too little solar treatment means lots of blinds as there are no external shading devices

I love it! The KWS entrance is stunning, just to think when you're in the airport terminal looking out to the city, the impact it will have from this vantage will be impressive.
P.S - I'm back, my laptop crashed last week, and whilst I don't get it back until this Friday, I'm staying at my grandparents for the week, so I'm back on forum duty

The boundary piling foundations have been concreted towards the southern end and excavations continue. With the application now consisting of a basement level they should be digging for a while as the site is huge. Also some works occuring on the northern boundary, looks like stabalising works for the adjacent buildings (coverings over King William Street as well). Pics from late this arvo:

I know it's a bit too late, but what was there before?

Not sure. It's been an empty block for some years now.

Use to be the old Repco site.Norman wrote:I know it's a bit too late, but what was there before?

it used to be a great old 4 storey brick new york style warehouse, that had so much prominence. They were originally going to keep the structure and turn them into warehouse style apartments, but then it got flattened. I used to love the building

Really looking forward to seeing this up - will make a huge difference to KWS Sth. It would be one of my favourite building developments - sure beats the idea of the old Repco building as industrial apartments. Glad to see that vast open space used and the car park hidden.

May as well use the carpark while it is still visible. Got these after the tunnel tour with Norman, AG and Darkside in tow. Excavation of the basement is well underway now.
A more traditional 'over the fence' shot.
And finally, the sky line from the carpark.

Digging a basement sure is exiting to watch . I remember when i was in melbourne a few years ago when they were digging the basement for one of the city's new skyscrapers (can't remember the name). Anyway, it was like 5 basement levels and the hole must of been at least 20m deep. Exciting stuff..........sorry to bore you all with that thought
Nice pictures will, it jogged my memory.

Great pics Will409 and Norman! The number of trucks leaving that site today with all the earth was amazing. This building sure is going to be large. The National Foods HQ in Melbourne currently under construction reminds me of this one a lot re size and scale.
