The way things are going, The Precinct and City Central will be finished way before one single piece of concrete is laid for Spire.
what a joke, but at least its still.....a goer. Isnt this the 4th delay or something?

Don't know why there is such a holdup with this project cos it is going to turn out to be one big student accomodation complex anyway. IMO up to the 20th floor will be investors and then from then up will be owner/occupiers. For that reason alone I will be very keen to purchase one of these.

I think it will be a bit over priced for student accommodation. But it's great news that its still happening

Unless the developers lodge a new application with the council, which believe me, has NOT happened, the building is still 98m.

One month to go. If nothing happens, I'll lock this thread, and confine it to "history" :wank:

Think that's a bit dramatic. Many projects take a long time to eventuate... Conservatory, tram line, tivoli, but in the end they all did.

In response to my email sent last week about the current progress:
HI,
The project is moving along very well. We already have commitment for one of the Penthouses which will be Adelaides tallest home and will set a new record for the city. The project is definitely going ahead and construction is anticipated to now start in 2008.
We already have a huge interest in clients wanting to purchase and making reservations in anticipation of a pre public release towards the end of the year.
Regards,
Al

That's great news. Sometimes it takes a long time for these apartment developments to get under way, especially since they want to ensure that they have enough commitments to the sale of it's apartments, particularly the most expensive ones (the penthouse). Most apartment buildings seem to wait for about 60-70% sales before they begin construction. Office buildings only seem to wait for at least 40% of the space to be leased out.
The longest I remember any apartment building in Adelaide taking from the proposal and selling stage to completion is 223 North Terrace, which was proposed ages ago and was only recently completed.

It'll make a huge difference to our flat skyline don't you think?
Firstlym i think that it is a great idea, and i have been following the project for a while - but this is the first time that i have seen the design [it looks fantastic].
I agree with your opinion that it will make a huge difference to the Skyline. I think that it will make a great difference, and i like how it is not just a block design, it has abit of character and orginality to it. That and the building proposed for Currie Street [in the banner of the Sensational Adelaide Website] will make a huge difference to the skyline and i am looking forward to its erection.

Just noticed that spire has a website now..
http://www.spireliving.com.au/
I'm not sure how long it's been up for, or if it's been posted before. But there's scare on information there, just a registration of interest page.
