Yes, there will be a few routes re-routed via Henley Beach Road because of the Transit Lane.

I was there too.

It was a warm day, perhaps less people than I expected (unlike the Heysen tunnel opening).
The Rotary club were running a BBQ. There was a band and soft-serve icecream van.
Speeches were made by Rod Hook, Pat Conlon & Mike Rann before the ribbon was cut using the same scissors which cut the ribbon for the bridge (1929?). Members of the Bakewell family were present.

Wow, its turned out much nicer than I thought. One question, why has a bus lane only been implemented city-bound, and not vice-versa?

Totally awesome, thanks for the pictures both of you.

I cannot imagine how much difference it has changed the site compared to when the old flyover bridge was there. Now it looks modern and is exactly what Adelaide needed!

And the features on the wall under the bridge is an excellent idea, instead of just plain concrete!!

Love the view of the city from the bridge!

Speechless.

Because Henley Beach Road west of the Bakewell Bridge can't handle another lane... how would they merge? Also, there is less congestion coming out of the city than into the city.

I did, and it met my expectations, given that the open day wasn't all that well publicised. The
bike riders were determined to ignore the requests to walk through until it was opened for traffic,
and Channel 9 apparently had a wet blanket for their news report ... safety concerns about lack
of protection against rock throwers from James Congdon Drive. The rail bridge has an attractive
mesh screen, which is the side any troublemakers are likely to lurk. Pics later, when I look at them,
but BillD's & Norman's give a great impression of the day.

Don't need to appologise for the quality norman, my old 5.1MP camera couldn't fart out video footage that good.
