Good luck to FB, I won't be dining at that Grill'd.
You realise that's how business, capitalism and competition works, right? Also Grill'd go for the healthy burger approach which places like Burger Theory, Nordburger (near their Norwood store) and possibly Fancy Burger aren't necessarily after. Regardless, competition works in favour of the consumer because the cream rises to the top. I like variety so I will shop where ever I feel at any given point. Still happy to support local where possible, but will also take on board my appetite too.
Good luck to all the burger places and pray for our waist lines.

You're right in that Burger Theory and Nordburger have nothing to worry about, but Fancy Burger is a very similar style to Grill'd. It will be very interesting to see what happens between the two.

I feel like Fancy Burger is just an imitation of Grill'd anyway - who were doing it interstate a long time before.

The classic example tought in economics involves setting up an ice cream shop on a beach where one already exists. Long story short, the correct answer out of the various options is to set up next to them and compete. Probably little coincidence that burger theory resides in this budding burger precinct as well!

I was just in David Jones and noticed as part of their refurbishment the area where the magic cave goes has been completely removed and replaced with beds. All the walls have gone and has been reptiles to form part of the store. Does that mean magic cave is gone forever? Another SA icon lost?

Magic Cave was lost when John Martins closed. That was the original, and it was logically well placed right next to the toys section, DJs put in a crap new version of it and placed it with bedding and furniture, because children love that sort of stuff

Magic Cave still there, and pageant still delivering Father Christmas to it (despite difficulties Tiffany's are causing).

I can imagine management would have a problem with square metres of floor space that was dormant for most of the year. They probably mooted a foldaway magic cave, which can be put into storage for the rest of the year, allowing the floor space to earn its keep.
Just curious, what word did you want when your 'auto-correct' suggested "reptiles"?

That's the problem with reptiles. Only active when the sun is out and it's nice and warm.

I went to Grill'd last Friday, they aren't in rhythm yet. Alcohol display up yet no liquor licence - so can't purchase beer. They screwed up my order, forgot about it, and I had to wait longer then my friend. The burger was pretty good, the chips were coldish in parts. I reckon it will get better as it goes along, obviously.
I could easily see myself going from FancyBurger to BurgerTheory to Grill'd though. They are all pretty good burgers.

Universal Store will be opening in the mall before Christmas. Not too sure of the location, possibly that new glass fronted devlopment opposite the Myer Centre?
