Should look great. Now we just need the Adelaide Festival Centre reclad in a similar manner but white.

Nothing wrong with the Festival Centre cladding - it just needs maintenance. (The drama centre looks much better after it's recent clean while the water proofing works were conducted)

What a lot of people don't realise is that the white shells of the Festival Centre are actually concrete, similar to what is used for modern roofing tiles. Whilst it is no terracotta tiles like the Sydney Opera House, it's not as tacky as many seem to think.

I agree with Nort; I love the festival centre's design but an updated zinc-like white cladding (and perhaps new glazing) would dramatically enhance its appearance while still respecting the building's form. Tbh, the higher quality finish would also better reflect the centre's lofty status than the almost municipal standard of present.

But that's all a bit off-topic. The convention centre itself: what a relief! I'll be interested to see it all finished.

Saw the Convention Centre cladding up close today and yes, it's dull brown. No sign of the shimmering finish as suggested by the renders on the posters hung around the area....well yet anyway. Might look better when finished but short of a team of French polishers let loose on it in the final stages it will be.....brown.

It's not shiny shiny, but it does pick up the light - particularly apparent with some of the different angles. It's definitely a much more metallic finish than what was used on Stage 2.

here are some pictures from Friday 28 Aug 2016 a dull overcast day. The zinc cladding looked very dull and is very non reflective in low light. The surface is not at all shiny. I will wait for a better day before I decide about this surface. Also included a picture of the southern side (facing towards North Tce).

The colours in Matt's own picture agrees with the colour I observed .The other picture with a low (setting )sun gives a some what false rosy picture. On dull or overcast days with no direct sunlight the exterior colour is just a dull brown.

I would rather they have left it white or, better yet, stuck with something similar to the colours proposed early on:

It's turned out better than I anticipated TBH, I actually like it. Looks better in person.

Though not sure I like the wording along the exterior, it kinda cheapens the design. Might grow on me once it's fully complete.
