People are discussing the topic of this thread; Victoria Square redevelopment.
If it's off topic the mods deal with it.

Anyway, did anyone happen to pop down for the TDU launch?
Some good pics on Instagram and the like. A lot of people down there. Nice to see the Square actually getting some use.

yep I did yesterday afternoon. I think the redevelopment is brilliant. Its now an event space. They were about to introduce all the cycling teams, last year I reckon a couple of hundred were there, this year there was a couple of thousand. In the late afternoon the SGIC, and Hilton building shades the square nicely, the beers were flowing very freely, it was just great. Finally we have a proper city square, not a dead space with a few stunted trees and old park benches.
Big thumbs up from me, and its still not even finished.
*now waits for the Advertiser retards to publish its first negative piece on it*

Some photos via social media of the new Victoria Square/Tarndanyangga redevelopment, site of the current TDU Bike Expo.
Looks great!!
Love the fountain jets, arbours with unique metallic shading and the curved wooden seating.

I spent a few hours down at Vic Sq yesterday and overlooked the fountain for most of this time. To set at ease any thought of the fountain being high pressure, it's most definately not. The jets are a metre high at best. I saw at least a dozen kids running through it like maniacs, a mum in a bikini playing with her totts and even a baby crawling though negotiating the spray. It really has turned into a functional and interactive space that will continue to get better as the trees mature and the facilities are finished off. Will be interesting to see what imputus is given to stage 2 of the development.
