Why is the Adelaide council running at a deficit? What plans are in place to return the council to surplus?

If I gave the impression that the Council is running a deficit I must set the record straight. In fact we have an Operating Surplus of $7.62m which has been applied to Strategic Projects.peas_and_corn wrote:Why is the Adelaide council running at a deficit? I try to help with answers to questions about Adelaide City Council matters but I ain't going to attempt an answer to this one!JamesXander wrote:Why does Ann Moran comment on any and every issue that has to do with Adelaide?
Probably because journos want her opinion - there aren't any other councillors that are anywhere near as well-known (and respected by some) as her.JamesXander wrote:Why does Ann Moran comment on any and every issue that has to do with Adelaide?
Ahh. The following part is what confused me (pertinent part italicised)-david wrote:If I gave the impression that the Council is running a deficit I must set the record straight. I have attached the summary page from last Tuesday's Council meeting agenda item at which we adopted the budget and set the rates for 2010-2011
David P
year. The Budget is based on a total
expenditure of $219.362m with total funding from sources other than rates of $141.824m and a total amount
to be raised by Rates of $77.538m plus loans of $21.029m to be borrowed for the purpose of funding the
budget, including roll-over borrowings of $2.840 m.
Oh yes, that would be great - and it reminds me, I really must make a visit to The Historian Hotel.Wayno wrote:This is interesting ==> (Item 12.5) A proposal to create shared use zones in Coromandel Place, French St & Chesser St was endorsed for consultation. These are busy and historic laneways and activation would be great for the city.
I almost did last Friday for my "seeya" work lunch. But we changed to the Ambassador's at the eleventh hour. Wish I hadn't now, they were crap.Prince George wrote:Oh yes, that would be great - and it reminds me, I really must make a visit to The Historian Hotel.
I heard some murmours about this one, I really hope something like that happens, I didn't realise that that area would have enough foot traffic to make it viable but hopefully it does.Wayno wrote:Councillor Plumridge's 50th Notes edition - well done David! we appreciate your open and frank communications
