I thought the same, but this will give a bit more details: http://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/__d ... esign2.pdf
Oh wow, nevermind. The fly through shows something completely different to that
There's a few discrepancies between the fly through and the concept design. For instance at the Ayliffes road intersection the road from shepards hill onto south road is two lanes in the fly through but only 1 in the concept design. That tonsley intersection looks like a bit of a nightmare at the moment as well, so hopefully they take a bit more of a look at it.

The fifth lane on the far left citybound looks a bit useless - I think four lanes will suffice.

Adelaide drivers will take years to figure it out. I think in the mean time I'm going to invest in a new tow truck shop in the area, it'll be sure to make a small fortune in the years following this interchanges completion.
Exactly. Just this afternoon, I was going along South Road under Anzac highway, and a driver with SA plates slowed right down in the right lane, managed to squeeze into a gap in the left lane and exit the road over the painted island. And that's been open for 6 years now..

Might need to split the South Road service on ramp in two to avoid the merging issues apparent in the current concept, with the onramp crossing over the exit lane from the motorway to Ayliffes Road.

I wish something similar had been done where the Gateway Motorway joins the Pacific Motorway merge here in Brisbane. It's a massive bottleneck because of merging issues - four lanes from one motorway, two lanes from the other plus a bus lane all merge in to just three lanes within a few hundred metres.

I'd say the next chunk to be upgraded along South Road will be Tonsley Boulevard to Emerson crossing (or perhaps even as far as the Gallipoli underpass), my understanding is this section will be raised motorway (at-least until Emerson) and the current Emerson overpass will be taken down and rebuilt as a down ramp for this section of roadway (and the level train crossing trenched under Cross Road), correct me if I'm wrong anyone?
No, that's right, but I don't think the treatment for the rail line has been decided yet.

The Civil Contractors Union spokespersons or something like that(sorry to whoever you were I forget your exact title) was on 5AA yesterday saying in the new year there would likely be announcements regarding rail crossing upgrades. He mentioned some minor crossings may have the road closed, but he seemed a little too excited for it to just be that.

Darlington and T2T extensions didn't require additional funding, they were a result of the tendering/design process revealing that additional works could be delivered within budget.

Interesting. I wonder if the Torrens Junction and Bowden rail undergrounding project might finally see some action...

Not sure if this is related, though some contractors were doing some soil samples a couple of months ago right between the railway junction. It did not look like it was apart of the current parkland works.

With works beginning early next year of upgrading Gibson Street, surely the railway upgrade can't be too far away?. The current Bowden Station is one of the worst on the network.

The Gibson St upgrade (from the rail line to Fifth St) has been going since the middle of this year and will be finished in a few months.

Are you thinking of the separate upgrade project the council is doing between Seventh St and Hawker St?

On Torrens to Torrens, they've already started forming the western surface road, at the southern end of the project it can be seen dug into the current surface. Looks like this could be open early in the year and trench work will commences shortly after.

The next section that needs some significant and immediate attention is the area of South Road from Daws to the Anzac underpass.

The stretch of South road outside Castle Plaza has the worst bottleneck of traffic in Peak Period.

Of note are some areas currently for sale/lease:

The large brown brick Toyoda Gosei factory.

The old Graham Cornes car lot.

The old Mitsubishi yard on Daws Road.

The State govt should be buying up these sites at a cheap price.

South Road/Daws Road is the worst intersection that I know of. A roundabout is the best and in my view, the cheapest solution. Needs a lot of space though.

Based on the alignment of the Black Forrest tram overpass, it's my understanding that from Daws Road to Anzac Highway everything immediately west of South Raod (including some of the sites you've mentioned) will be acquired for the the corridor.

The section between Darlington and Emerson will be a Superway-style structure because of soil contamination.

A missed opportunity if they don't incorporate a bus interchange with the new train station. Would eliminate scores of express buses off South Rd and Goodwood Rd and channel passengers onto a fast and frequent rail service.
