And I wonder how many residents even realised last night! I live right under the flight path and had no idea.

Hopefully this flight arrives in the day so we can actually get a good picture of the A350.

Great. Has the date the flights will start been announced yet?

Let's hope the SA Government didn't give Qatar Airways any special treatment. You would think a new entrant would be more cautious and start with 3 or 4 flights a week and maybe with an older aircraft (possibly a B777-200 or B777-300) instead of daily flights and a brand new A350-900! It would be interesting to find out from both sides. Anyhow, this is going to give anyone flying with QANTAS, MAS and oneworld the option of where they want to earn their FF points. It will also give Emirates competition on the route via the Gulf to Europe. I've got my opinions on all the ME3 which I won't share here. Let's hope Qatar does bring those extra tourists our way.

Cheers

Qatar flights are now searchable/bookable.

Random place (rome) chosen on some random dates, <$1000 return, not bad!

I think you will find that price is for the outbound leg (e.g. Adelaide > Rome) only. With both the outbound and inbound legs selected, the return price is around the $2,000.00 mark. :)

I'm impressed! :D

I didn't think our market warranted another flight to the middle east - i hope they stick!

Given Qatar airways next move to entice the Adelaide market, I wonder if Emirates will think about setting up their own lounge past passport control? Or upgrading to A380 daily? Very interesting summer coming... also well done Adelaide!

Don't count on Emirates putting an A380 into Adelaide now. Qatar starting here has pretty much killed that plan. Plus the airport needs a huge infrastructure upgrade for that as well e.g make some bays duel aerobridges.

They airport is currently doing some apron works down by REX/ Virgin end of the terminal where there appears to be some tarmac works happening. most probably some layover bays for REX

Who cares? A380's probably won't last in the market for very long, they're mechanically unreliable.

Where did you get that from?

It's been in the media, they've had quite a few issues.
I think some airlines have even reduced their orders.
