I know people in aviation who have stated what I said earlier. Qantas themselves significantly decreased their order, one of the two reasons was their dissatisfaction with the aircraft. Qantas reduced their orders because they were imploding to Qantas Sydney and Melbourne Airways. With nobody feeding to Singapore via Qantas metal from Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, and Emirates getting free access to those cities, Qantas had no need for bigger aircraft.Patrick_27 wrote:I know people in aviation who have stated what I said earlier. I'd be interested though if you have any reputable links to decent statistics about Airbus A380 despatch reliability.
The A380 is a superior aircraft to fly in as a passenger in my experience. (I've travelled to Europe and back 3 long sectors per year for the past 8 years and have travelled roughly equal numbers of sectors B777, B747 and A380). It is far better than the 747.

They airport is currently doing some apron works down by REX/ Virgin end of the terminal where there appears to be some tarmac works happening. most probably some layover bays for REX
What is the likelyhood now of AAL developing a lounge past Passport Control for all these airlines? Will QANTAS do a business class lounge and let Emirates in as well as OneWorld alliance members (Malaysia, Qatar, Cathay) or Do you think a OneWorld lounge would stand alone given Qantas' non presence here in Adelaide.

The international part of the airport is due to be redeveloped in the next few years anyway. Hopefully this will include an increase to the customs area and one or two more lounges. Only Singapore Airlines has one at the moment.

They need to revise this part of the proposed redevelopment. The current international terminal existing as a temporary measure can't last if they're to further increase the services. I'd suggest either completely reconfiguring half of the current terminal and shifting one of the main airlines into the extended terminal area, or relocate the international terminal into one of the new terminal wings to be built north of the current terminal.Norman wrote:The international part of the airport is due to be redeveloped in the next few years anyway. Tigerair made some announcements today. The one that interests us the most are additional flights between Sydney and Adelaide. They'll start from December 8 on a brand new A320.

They don't want any inbound luggage to go through security screening (their planes are under the requirements that require security so inbound luggage arrives unscreened).
