It really makes you wonder how our population almost doubled during the Playford era from 600,000 to 1.1 million

A certain event in Europe sure did help.

Oh yer forgot about that. Its so easy to forget on of the biggest events in the worlds history.

Assumedly, that Adelaide has improved it's growth rate of 1.2% from 2007 levels; the population as of 30th June 2010 should be around 1,200,398 - give or take a few.

"Greater Adelaide" - which consists of Mount Barker, and the entire Barossa and Fleurieu regions comprise another 139,517 residents, based on 2.0% growth rate from 2008 levels make up a population base of some 1,339,915 people (by June 30th 2010) within a 80km radius - roughly from the CBD.

1.2m people in Adelaide proper seems to be the magic milestone for the city this year. I predict that growth rates will only continue to increase, and rather significantly in the next decade - probably around to 1.7% p.a by 2020.
