[CAN] 64 Currie Street | 92m | 25 Levels | QT Hotel/Office
[CAN] Re: #VIS: 62-66 Currie Street (incl 15,000sqm office space)
Went for walk along Currie Street and discovered that the current building has been sold.
Hopefully its sign that this proposal will be put forward to DAP!

Just stumbled across this on my usual round of construction/development-related websites. It's from the Mattioli Group, which was responsible for the Allegra Hotel among other developments:
A proposed 5 star luxury hotel that will become a landmark feature in the Adelaide CBD.
This 23 level development will be designed and built to standards not yet seen in South Australia. With its interior design inspired by some of the great hotels of the world, it will become the destination of choice for the discerning traveler.

Looks good. I particularly like how it just wont be another box.

Appears to be the Avant Garde Furniture building site:

Cool, that'll be happening almost literally right outside my window. Although, I am fond of the art deco styling of the existing building. I hope that they will produce a street-frontage that at least matches what it replaces.

...not far from the developer's Rendezvous Allegra Hotel, which, given the fact that it's investing in the Adelaide hotel market again, must be doing well.Ben wrote:Close to Hindley Street, Light Square and 5 mins walk to the mall and Vic Square...capitalist wrote:all good...why currie street....

true I guess
I have heard lots of good things about their other one, so I guess it must be doing well.

SA/SSC member Adelarch found this render of the proposed Currie St project on the Loucas Zahos website (developers behind the latest Flinders St proposal)
20-22 Currie Street is only a few doors down
The only information we have at this stage is that it will include 15,000sqm of office space.
Its unclear if this is a outdated render, however if this design gets built it will be one of the hottest developments ever built in Adelaide!

If you remember back to last March, with the Clipsal, Fringe and Festival on and the ACDC concert as well, every single hotel room in Adelaide was booked.Pants wrote:...not far from the developer's Rendezvous Allegra Hotel, which, given the fact that it's investing in the Adelaide hotel market again, must be doing well.

And then there's AFL at AO, and the improved riverbank/convention district...AtD wrote:If you remember back to last March, with the Clipsal, Fringe and Festival on and the ACDC concert as well, every single hotel room in Adelaide was booked.

Two things come to mind:
- Aurora Place in Sydney (office tower)
- PlayStation 3
In other words, I like it. Much better than what is usually proposed for Adelaide... I'm a sucker for architectural curviness.
