Re: Designing Canberra - An Ideal City
I reckon 'Sydmeladperbrisho' would have been a better name for the city than 'Canberra'. Waddya think...?
It's = it is; its = everything else.
You're = you are; your = belongs to.
Than = comparative ("bigger than"); then = next.

No, I think Canberra's a much better name. An Aboriginal word for meeting place is the ideal name for our national capital.Maximus wrote:I reckon 'Sydmeladperbrisho' would have been a better name for the city than 'Canberra'. Waddya think...?
Also there are plenty of problems with Sydmeladperbrisho:
• There'd probably be some resentment of the order and of Brisbane getting four letters while Adelaide only gets two.
• Having two major cities starting with Syd would create a lot of confusion.
• A name made up of state capitals would be seen as a snub by many rural Australians
• What happens if a territory becomes a state? Would we have to change our national capital's name?

I can't believe you took that seriously.
I think a good name would be "Tongueincheek"

Had it be named Sydmeladperbrisho, I think it would've just ended up being called 'Ho'.

No it's not called tongue in cheek. It's called being right when there's an opportunity to be right.rhino wrote:I can't believe you took that seriously.

Because I agree with Aidan, I am also right.
