it is only 5kms from the Perth CBD and a 5 minute drive.

AO is 500m from the Adelaide CBD and a 5 minute Walk.

I know which one I prefer.

Will be interesting if we can ever upgrade it.

reference was in the Budget about the Torrens/Goodwood rail project - getting - I think - $232m - what is this all about?

its not 5km. look at a map. its even closer than Subiaco.
its around the same distance as AO is to the CBD.

there's a lot of fact bending on this forum to suit agendas it seems

there is no way it is as close to the Adelaide CBD as AO

don't get me wrong, what Perth is doing is fantasic. But it is only going to be superior to AO in terms of capacity.

well that is my opinion without knowing what additional stadium perks it will have, given it will be completed 3 years later.

I used to live in Perth and Burswood is a good 5 - 10 mins drive from the CBD on a good day. Subiaco isn't THAT close to Perth CBD? Thats like me saying Adelaide Oval is closer to the city than AAMI... well duh

Let's compare and contrast.

Perth:

Adelaide:
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?oe=utf-8 ... CEQQ-A8wAA

I think I prefer our situation.

you've chosen the furtherest possible point in the CBD and you've included the road into the golf club. entry to this new stadium will not be that far.
regardless, its beside the point which was that the Perth Stadium, ie the stadium itself is going to have 10,000 more seats, complete new stadium build and it will only cost $100 million more and this is with Perth's inflated construction costs.

The Adelaide Oval redevelopment will actually cost $600 million when you include the Western Stand which is completed already. The point was about the design which is compromised, not by costs but by short sightedness and a willingness to get one stand built ASAP whilst it was known a full redevelopment was on the agenda. The result is a dogs breakfast of uneven stands.
