Howie............ re: frontpage. that's not a render of this building, it's a render of Southern Cross in Melbourne. I posted it to give you an idea of the size that this thing could possibly be... (the smaller building in background)
lol heart attacks all round!

Hiya tayser.. thanks for pointing that out. On the front page it actually reads
This render, is not of the proposed building, a render has yet to come, it's just a render from one of the architect's other projects. All the same thanks to S-A Member, Tayser, for finding the render. Forum discussion on this project here.
Although i see where people may get confused.. i might fix that up in a tick.

Big one here.
Thanks to Will again. We can post these now that it's been printed in the advertiser.

Thanks Will and Howie. Great to get an idea of what it will look like. Looks as though it will be fairly glass orientated. Looks rather bulky as well. Nice

Howie, I was just wondering; did the Advertiser publish a coloured image of the building?
(I couldn't buy the paper today)

Thanks guys. from what I see I like it. Strange choice of angle for the middle render lol.
Pirie/Waymouth Street is really turning into a skyscraper canyon

There's a colour render in this week's city messenger. Looks pretty good. I'll scan it in within a day or two unless someone beats me to it.
They're not very committal on whether it'll go up, the highest they're putting it is that it's just one of the options that they're considering for the site. Another nightclub in the other option.

It's the sort of design that looks awesome in CG, but incredibly bland in real life.

hmmm. it's ok. Looks like the Australian Central building with extra floors. Pretty uninspiring.

Even if it goes ahead, you won't see any action on the site until mid to late 2008, even early 2009.

Urk. That is vile to be honest, I don't like it at all. Great that we have something 72.5 approved but it would be nice if the render got changed a little. IMO we need a few more shear faced glass buildings, nice deep dark glass or some more glass like the CFS building on Waymouth but much taller with a triangular top. Time for some more bold designs, there have been some nice ones, but this one is not winning me over.
