Little boxes made of ticky tacky, little boxes all the same.
What's scary is the bigger rectangular tower looks like a bigger version of Coglin Place. And that looks awful.
The smaller 'boxy' tower... if you look closely, appears to have a diamond pattern on the glazing which protrudes out from the building. I hope this is the case.

It looks like average and boring, nothing more than a box, no architectural interest to me what-so-ever. If there's the money to build something like Vue on South Tce surely there's the money and interest to build a landmark building here in the heart of the city. 21 levels of office? How about another 21 levels on top of apartments? Levels 22 to 43 overlooking Victoria Square, the view alone would sell these like hot cakes not to mention the location.
Its great to see proposals coming through but it feels like this would be such a waste of the most prominent location in the CBD. Don't build a generic box, this should overshadow Westpac house.

That's a very good questions, why not 25 levels of apartments on top. They would sell so quickly if priced right in this location. New tallest. Its not lack of demand so what is stopping developers building a large mixed use building in Adelaide. They can't blame height restrictions anymore.Tommo wrote:It looks like average and boring, nothing more than a box, no architectural interest to me what-so-ever. Try shaving an angle off the front right corner to allow more set back from GPO, not a huge amount, just enough to add an interesting angle...add the missing floorspace to another 5 floors. BINGO. Less overshadowing. Less Wind tunnelling. More interesting. Same lettable space. More prominance of heritage facade adjacent. Still street activation at gound level....What is so hard to make something other than a box in Adelaide....And please dont tell me about large floor plates bla bla bla ,when they keep adding floors to the most skinny building around the corner in KWS.
[COM] Re: 177-179 Victoria Square | 82m~ | 21 Levels | Office
Agree that the building design could be improved with setbacks and any loss of floorspace can just easily translate into increased height / additional floors. This is a site than can accommodate a new tallest... so they should seize the opportunity to do so.

Sounds like this one may have a tenant. They have submitted a revised internal layout and slight height increase.

This is going ahead next year thanks to state government leasing over 50%.

Love how the advertiser spin it into a negative article.

Looks like a shortened "Black Stump". It's pretty underwhelming but an ok density filler.

quite like it, not anything architecturally special I know. but Adelaide skyline lacks glass/modern looking buildings imo, so anything that is decent and predominately glass is a plus in my book

This proposal looks like it's something out of the 1970's or 1980's.
It is anything but modern. It is ugly and it is disgraceful that something so weak underwhelming and patheticly boring would be proposed for such a prominent location. It is even worse that it is going ahead thanks to state government taking up tenancy. And they've done so to ensure it goes ahead. What the fuck are they thinking? Have they looked at this proposals renders? Then again these morons are allowing a box tower of little imagination and vision to go up I the festival plaza so shouldn't be surprised.
I'd rather an empty lot similar to the former lecornu site on O'Connell than this "modern glass density filler".

The street level activation proposed in conjunction with the 2 x towers looks great. The towers are meh, not anything outstanding however not anything offensive. The quality of the finish will make or break it. Not surprised the state gov have been called upon to get this over the line, cant see many office proposals in the forseeable future with this + the festival plaza tower going up!

I'm hoping this design is only a concept.... wishful thinking I know.
Most uninspiring development proposal in years.
