When I went past the other day, it looks like the lift cores are complete/at full height.

This is an interesting one. 'Yartapuulti' means 'place of death or sleep'.

It's apparently the traditional name for Port Adelaide according to the Yartapuulti/Port Adelaide Football Club. https://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/yartapuulti

I guess "place of death" is not much different to the early English name of Port Misery, but I agree it's not a good name from an acute medical ward.

Just an observation on this note without wanting to wade too deeply into the arguments for or against but I did note on a recent visit that all naming signage for the existing Women's and Children's hospital is now primarily in Kuarna (Ngangkiku Ngartuki Kukuwardli), with the English translation added in much smaller text underneath.

Maybe it's a push across SA Health?

I don't think it's about removing the English language, but acknowledging that there were languages and place names in Adelaide before colonisation. The hospital itself is still the QEH.

I personally don't have a problem with it, I think it is a small point along the lines of reconciliation.

Back to the hospital, does anyone know what these extra beds will be used for?

Are there still entire wards sitting empty in the older building?
