Have people forgotten, that this development was always going to be constructed in 2 phases, and most importantly that when complete, you wont be able to see the carpark?

Haven't forgotten, but it's surprising how shallow the building in front of the carpark is going to be. Also interesting that the back wall of the carpark is concrete tilt-ups, while the front wall, which will be obscured by the building, is a steel grille. If there is going to be space between this steel grill and the building in front of it, the building will be shallower still.
cheers,
Rhino

It's still a massive carpark though. :(

Exactly!
Every time I go past this, I have the same thought. It's a 'carpark with a facade.' At least this will largely hide the bulk of the carpark from street view.
More traffic congestion from yet another carpark!

Will the shallow office frontage be any taller than the carpark?

This one stands out from Wakefield Street (for all the wrong reasons, in my opinion):

From last week - the car park appears to be complete and in use - a tasteful addition, carefully designed and constructed to blend in with the existing
streetscape:

Oh yes it's brilliant. I can see the architectural awards piling up already.

After many years we finally managed to get the ugly car park adjacent 400 King William Street covered up. Now we have this one. Forget this build in stages deal when it comes to car parking. You either build the car park and office together of forget it imo.

Have you seen what they've done with the heritage building fascades in Roper Street?

EPIC FAIL ACC..

inconsistent, they give this junk approval, yet on other developments can be overly "anal".

Remember kids, it's going to end up looking like this...

It's not the Guggenheim, but it's probably not worth wanting to kill a kitten over.
