Sorry to bring up an old thread but I thought it worth posting that the old Freedom furniture building is now up for lease so it looks like this development is either on hold for awhile or dead.

Seems odd given the demand for apartments and the efforts they made to get this one through council. Maybe the location wasn't seen as that great (ie noisy)?

Would be a good size building for a temp harris Scarfe but I guess the location isn't that great.

At least reuse of the existing building is a positive from the negative of a project being cancelled. It leaves the site open to a future development.
