Glass is being installed on the first 4 levels of the Eastern side - sorry no photo. The reflective glass looks good.

Im glad that the government seems to be open to further development of the area and that they are pushing for a high-quality outcome.gnrc_louis wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:32 pmWalker still pushing for a second tower: https://indaily.com.au/news/2022/09/16/ ... val-plaza/

If the second tower is taller then the other tower, then I'll support it.gnrc_louis wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:32 pmWalker still pushing for a second tower: https://indaily.com.au/news/2022/09/16/ ... val-plaza/

I have mixed feelings but agree about extra height. The design would have to be better than the current tower under construction too.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:52 pmIf the second tower is taller then the other tower, then I'll support it.gnrc_louis wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:32 pmWalker still pushing for a second tower: https://indaily.com.au/news/2022/09/16/ ... val-plaza/
However, commercial space shouldn't come at the expense of public space (especially when of quality).

Agree with this. I don’t think the current three storey proposal is great, so if another tower was proposed it would hopefully have better integration with parliament.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 1:22 pmI have mixed feelings but agree about extra height. I think a second tower would have to incorporate a decent amount of retail to make up for losing a dedicated retail building.
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
Either way-lets hope they decide quickly...or else this will be a building siite for years to come.-Its already dragged on long enough.

A second tower? Look forward to it being completed in 2037.
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
A second tower should never be allowed under any circumstances. The riverbank precinct is over developed as it is.

I don't recall the old plaza being connected to the parliament, nor do I recall the rear of parliament even having doors? I don't know what the talk about connecting parliament to the new plaza is all about. If they mean visually connected, well, they've already approved a 3 storey development there, so adding another 20 on top isn't going to change that. Also, tower or not, there's no net loss of public space - the land is committed to being developed, it's only a question of how tall. Given what is already contracted, I see no loss here in building another tower as long as it is a high quality design. In favour, more people will be actually using the plaza.
