The long term goal is to continue the tram around the corner from North Terrace to East terrace and then up Rundle Road to Norwood, but this extension was always going to stop at East Terrace.
The O-Bahn tunnel is due to be completed in December allowing any further tram work after that.

No-it was never intended that this stage would go onto East Terrace-it was always intended to terminate outside the old RAH.

Yes, and another stage will continue on from where this stage will end outside the old rah.

All very good news to read. More trams
expectedly the readers/commenters of AdelaideNow don't disappoint. Some precious flowers are concerned that they don't yet know how it will all work. If they get on a tram how will they ever know if its the right tram for their intended destination? For some it seems having more than one tram line is just too hard to contemplate
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Adelaide-No commenters aside; complexity of route is one of the recognised factors in PT take up.

On DTPI website(from last 2 years State Budget) Government plans to simplify the bus network with more direct faster Hi Frequency. Great in theory,but cannot see it happening for a long time or at all!

Is it me or has InDaily, which started off as a half-decent alternative to the standard Murdoch gutter press, gradually shifted to a similar, sensationalist and anti-progress agenda?
Something to do with the dreary Adelaide Now commentators becoming more and more prevalent in their comments section perhaps?

With InDaily, you get a bit of a swing depending on who is writing the article. The comments section has definitely gone down hill though. It's gone from some reasonably informed discussion (from both sides politically) to a handful of regulars trying to find any angle to moan about Labor.

the Indaily comment back from editor are pretty spot on thought.
sure you may not call it a cost blow out, but if it isn't a cost blow out what is it? if it is solely for political gain then is that a good use of $10M?

Well, to me a 'cost blowout' suggests significant unexpected expenditure required to achieve the same outcome. In this case $10M has been added to the budget to extend the line by 100m and to allow 24/7 work to take place to complete the project much sooner.
The cost has not 'blown out' - the scope has been expanded and the budget has been increased accordingly.
I also have a problem with the fact that the term 'blow out' was a direct quote from the opposition transport spokesman. Normally in this case the term would at least be written in quotation marks to indicate an opinion rather than fact.
I have noticed that InDaily seems to be increasingly a mouthpiece for the SA Libs, rather than the 'independent' news source their website banner suggests they are.

I called them out on thier bullshit on their FB page. No response from the editor as yet.
Been pretty disappointed with InDaily lately.
Back on topic. The 100m extension of the Festival Theatre leg of the tram line, have they simply moved the proposed tram stop 100m north, or is the proposed stop still remaining as it, with a 100m track extension beyond it to allow for turnbacks or tram parking during major events?

I would hate to see these people in Melbourne. When I stayed at hotel near Albert Park I knew I could get any tram from Swanston Street but one of the trams. Its as simple as looking at a map and the tram destination roller.
