The proposal identified by Parsons Brinckerhoff suggests that it follows the Gold Coast Highway (one of the busiest thoroughfares on the Gold Coast) between Southport and Broadbeach. Most of this is much like how the tram line extension was built, with the trams running in separate lanes from other traffic in the middle of the road, with minimal shared street running.
Sorry but I only looked at what was on here, and I did say 'probably'

Major Incident again for our PT System....involving our trams....

I had just finished my exam on Sat 3rd Nov at 4pm...i rocked up at the goodwood station at 20 past 4.

I had to wait for 45 min for the tram to take me home!!!

I saw 4 trams head into the city while I was waiting and I thought this cant be right??

After 45 min a tram came past but did not pick us up and had not in service on it.

Then was a big convoy of about 3 trams coming all at once, and I had asked the conductor what the heck happened??

His reply was that a car had hit a tram on king william and currie st!!!! Which explained the tram that didnt pick us up.

I personally think that they should have announcement boxes like the trains to let people know of these delays.

I mean if Pat Colon had a brain in his head, his team would think...hey we have some teething problems for the first few weeks or so, lets try and minimise the severity of the problem by letting people know of these delays??

I mean I coulda caught the train home instead.

Keep your eyes peeled for the news tonight to see what they have to say!!

The very same incident happened to me a Friday night last week or before. I waited 40 minutes, and 4 trams were scheduled to come in the timeframe i was waiting, 6 trams went by Glenelg-bound, but none came city-bound. I gave up waiting and went to catch the bus instead. As I waited at the bus stop for 15 minutes, 3 trams went in city-bound. This pissed me off outright, as there was no news or details about what the delay was.

When the storms rolled in last weekend, Glenelg services were operating, but only as far as Victoria Square. Not to City West where I and countless others, at all the other stops between CW and VS had no idea about where the trams were. It took (in my case) 20 minutes of waiting before a guy rolled up in a Targo and told us to walk to VS.

There needs to be LCD screens and automated speaker systems that advise commuters of any delays in the system. These last two incidents (in just 2 weeks of operation) plus this one today only signals the need for further upgrades.

And dont even get me started on the delays and screw ups on our trains aswell.

What the hell is goin in here?

I reckon if the transport department was a private firm, theyd definately be bankrupt by now!!

this is not on.

Its not like we have a highly complex world standard PT system?? We are just implementing systems like a bunch of amateurs.

Im actually scared of being late now cos we cant get it right.

I admit things are not right at the moment (especially considering that we had the BEST system from the 1920s to the 1950s) but we are atleast starting to put things right after years of neglect, just at a painfully slow pace. We do have the Noarlunga line which is about to be resleepered (from what I have been told, could be told that it could be as early as next year). However, we will see problems for the time being but it will hopefully be better in the end.

Just wondering how long it takes the Advertiser/Sunday Mail to blame the tram rather then the motorist for the accident. The only way one can have a run in with the tram is to go through a red light.

Yeah but its not about getting it perfect from the word go. Every new implementation is expected to have faults.

However I mentioned b4 that they could have measures in place to minimise the severities of the troubles people would be facing. I cant believe they just added the extension in and just expected people to just sit there not knowing if they are having issues and they will have to wait for ages. Thats very poor management.

The "at least we are trying" excuse is quite poor, failures need to be considered and handled a bit better then ignored.

It seems that they had no risk management strategy at all.

Is the tram OK though? It sounds like we don't have many left anymore after all those crashes and accidents.

I have a feeling that the accident will be a simple minor run in. If that is all that it is then it could be out of service for a day or so with possibly some scratches or at worst, a bend in the front bumper. If that is the case then it could very well be back on the road tommorrow or more likely Monday. Being a weekend, the traffic demand wouldn't be all too great. If it is more serious, there is still one Flexi spare. However, 108 had a flipped panto a week or so ago (basically, the pantograph flipped at the 'knee' and crashed on the roof. Incase you are wondering, it does happen in Melbourne every now and then). Anyway, there are still 4 operational H class at the depot. That is however a worse case scenario.

Because they don't know much about scheduled operations, let alone late ones!

They need real time information at the major stops, including the city stops (South Tce & Victoria Square onwards)

http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/stor ... 82,00.html
TRANSADELAIDE engineers are on their way to the South Parklands where a tram has run off the track.
Passengers have been directed to South Tce, 200m from where the Glenelg-bound tram stopped just past South Tce.

A Department of Transport spokesman said tram services to Glenelg have been stopped.

A witness said there was a loud rumbling noise before the tram came to a halt.

"It looked like the tram driver wanted to get on the siding but another tram was stopping it..It looks like a switch problem," he said.

"It looks like one tram didn't wait long enough after the first one".

I wonder if they actually have any sort of signal to let the driver know its been long enough.
