claybro wrote:So here we have, what is proving to be the most corrupt government in history, having done dodgy deals with anyone they could to get/stay in power, and instead of showing concern about the state of affairs, we are just getting stuck into someone who bothers to read up on what these politicians are up to and post it here for us to read? Who cares if stumpy is a liberal stooge. This stuff is not hearsay. It is being played out in courtrooms as we speak. The list of names with connections to government and unions is lengthy in regard to corruption and illegal activity, and yet some here get upset because someone highlights it and it makes the labour party look bad?....oh please!
Exactly as Mono said..

And he's been asked to back up his stories numerous times..probably almost as many times as he posts something, he's asked to back it up. But he never does.

See, this is what he does.
He drops some dirt...then disappears. Where is he to answer questions about his latest "scoop of poop" about the Labor party?

It's been pointed out many times he seems to have a thing for posting dirt about Labor only..so he now comes up with a post saying he has similar information about a Liberal member too.
Well why didn't he post about it? Why only post about the dirt he supposedly has on Labor?

He is using people like you as well.
He knows he can come on once in a while, post some dirt he thinks he has, and disappear.
Because people like you(not trying to be offensive) want to see more honesty and openness from our politicians(like we all do, really).

He uses you to fight his battles basically.
He doesn't have to be here to defend the bullshit he posts, because others, like your self, will basically do it for him without realizing.

Let's see him name names, properly, full disclosure on his part.
His sources, those he makes claims about..everything.
We can then contact all these people and verify what he is saying is true or not. Why does he have such a problem with having his claims verified?
What does he have to hide?

And don't accuse me of being a Labor fanboy. The issue that I and many others have isn't that he is posting about Labor, but that he is posting slander(one sided mind you), and never has the guts to back up his claims and have it all verified. The fact he is too gutless to be completely honest, wont disclose everything, and that he only seems to "pick on" one side of politics, leads people to think he is a Liberal staffer.
I believe he has denied being a member of the Liberal party, but has not denied being a staffer in a Liberal pollies office.

When he backs up his claims with solid facts and names that can be independently verified, then people will lay off him.
But he doesn't have the guts to do that because it will expose who he really is. So that should make you wonder why he doesn't want to expose who he is.
If he wants to play these games and get involved, and start slandering other people, he should at least have the balls to not hide behind a username him self like some sort of Internet coward.

There may be a lot going on right now, but I'm just scared everything is just going to come to a sudden halt. Most of the private developments proposed were linked with ODX. That may ahead in 2016, but there is 3 years between then and now. Tourism numbers have consistently gone down(quite surprising), as far as I know, since 2001. The Labor government(supporter btw) is focusing on mining and advanced manufacturing which is good, they have a focus on something, but I feel not enough is being done to encourage to bring in more companies and businesses which are considerably create more long term jobs while BAE is cutting 450 jobs. The only positive for us I see, is the mining sector rising.

PS we have one of these every few months, thought I'd be the one this time :D

Not sure that's correct. International flights are up from 13 a week in 2003 to 45 now. Chinese tourism has doubled in the last decade to 18,000 per annum and continues to grow as more cashed-up middle aged Chinese folk appreciate good wine (as opposed to low brow Gold Coast style entertainment). Domestic flights are up 11% in the last year mainly due to our summer/autumn collection of festivals.

Looking forward the SATC has a goal of increasing state tourism revenue from $5b to $8b by 2020. Tough but doable.

I looked at the stats on SATC's website from this link: http://www.tourism.sa.gov.au/assets/doc ... report.pdf. Might have misread it. I would be more than happy to be wrong! Although, passengers from domestic flights are down 6.1% but international has increased 13.0%. I certainly look forward to that as well!

Yep you're reading correctly. That SATC report indicates a decline in visitation over last 12 years. Conflicts with other info I've seen however. Very odd.

Strange indeed. We have gone from 49,000 monthly international passengers in 2010 to 70,000 passengers in 2013.

For the whole of SA, the annual report informs of a 5.3% increase domestically, but 12% decrease internationally. And Noman, where are those stats from?

You are right about the numbers. But keep in mind, this does not suggest increase in tourist numbers as more people will be taking direct flights from Singapore, Dubai etc to Adelaide instead of changing in Australia. Hence, the decrease in domestic numbers.

Extra Pedestrian Countdown Timers have been added to the pedestrian crossing on Port Rd opposite the Entertainment Centre to increase awareness and safety.

These add to the number already in place in the CBD, including the crossing on North Terrace opposite the Railway Station/Casino. Feedback has been positive.

I thought 'going commando' related to underwear, or the lack thereof

This is the interpretation by Adelaide's own Chuck Wagon on Melbourne St: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sout ... 6635258334

Unsure what to make of this - could be like asking the residents how to improve the asylum.

http://www.newdemocracy.com.au/

From AdelaideNow
A "CITIZENS' jury" will deliberate on Adelaide's future and deliver their verdict to the State Government.

Forty randomly selected South Australians will consider how to make the city both vibrant and safe and their recommendations will go to Parliament.

Premier Jay Weatherill will outsource this latest incarnation of "debate and decide" to a not-for-profit organisation, the newDemocracy Foundation. It boasts the support of a range of luminaries and former politicians and is dedicated to finding a "better system" of government.

It will invite about 20,000 randomly selected people to apply, then use an algorithm to find 40 people who are broadly representative of the community.

The final group will spend about 50 hours being briefed on the issues - such as crime statistics, drug and alcohol abuse and cultural and behavioural factors - and discussing how to make Adelaide a top entertainment destination that is also safe.

They will report within six months. Mr Weatherill said this method will replace a debate where vested interests and powerful lobby groups have the loudest voices.

"A lot of public debate gets captured by the slogans and this replaces it with the considered judgment of citizens who hear the evidence," he said. "We've been trying to find new ways of arriving at decisions ... and one of the things I said when I first got the job was I wanted to engage the community in policy development."

Mr Weatherill said the Government would still have the ultimate responsibility over what to do with the jury's recommendations.

NewDemocracy has completed similar projects interstate, and is funded by donations. Their overheads are paid for by their founder, philanthropist and businessman Luca Belgiorno-Nettis. Executive Director Iain Walker said the foundation was trying "something new".

"You can't ask government to change wholesale in one day. We want to show that a random selection of citizens gets beyond adversarial debate ... we hope to prove that we have a transparent ... method," Mr Walker said.

Opposition Leader Steven Marshall said his advice for Mr Weatherill was: "(Scrap) Labor's toxic car park tax which will drive up already high cost-of-living pressures for South Australians".

As I saw someone else mention — they scrapped the panel of experts that was the Integrated Design Commission, and now they want to set up a panel of laymen in it's place. :sly:
