John Martins carpark on North Terrace had a multi level apartment block built on top of it.

the buildings in the west end that I was thinking of that have had floors added are the day surgery centre that was planed as a 7 story building but only built as a 4 story building then had a 5th level added after built. the car park building behind it was built as a 4 story car park then had 3 levels of offices added and the motel building which had another level added. And now Fairmont homes wants to add some more stories. see

Adelaide Uni has added extra floors to all three of its medical school buildings. In the 1950's (I think) the original med school building (now Helen Mayo South building) on Frome Rd was extended and a 6th floor added (it's hard to tell, but you can see a subtle difference in the masonry compared to the lower floors on the outside walls). The newer 1970's med school building (the north wing on Frome Rd) was built with an empty vault in the roof space in case an extra floor was ever needed - this floor was finally added in the 1990's. And after the final height of the UniSA building next door was announced, 2 extra floors were almost immediately added to AHMS (while it was still under construction, but after all the pilings etc had been done), so that it would be the same final height as the UniSA building. Construction of yet another research 'floor' (more like a large shed really) on top of the roof began after AHMS was completed, but this was halted partway though & the extra space was built out under the building instead. This extra construction work was just completed earlier this year.

Update for 252 South Tce (seven story apartment block plus roof top BBQ area) now at full height. Click on picture for bigger. Building comprises ground floor car park then 6 apartments at 1 per level, then roof top BBQ area.

Forme projex takeover of Hurtle continues. The next stage expected to be approved next week by ACC (under $10m).

Each project is inoffensive individually, however, a whole square full of the sameness invokes images of Communist totalitarianism.

I do wish they ventured a little further out of the box, but at least this one, being a corner location, will add a sense of enclosure to the square and bring the city feel further down Pultney.

Certainly better than a tyre shop.

Piling has started at 62 South Tce Adelaide, next to the 6 story apartment building completed last year.
The piling rig had been parked on site for a couple of weeks but is now actually working. No time for a picture.

I'd resoundingly say yes, because there was concrete being poured the last couple days. I have no idea who that builder is though.

Also, being an 8 level building, would this one be needing a fixed crane?

Looks like another 'pop up' builder has won the job. Only had an approved builder's licence for 1 month with Chinese Directors.

Touch and go whether a tower crane is required or whether it's just a mobile for the structure. Will find out in a few weeks I guess.
