There is no way they will close the Tonsley line, they just need to extend it 100m and patronage will quadruple or more. This would have to be included in these works.

Thanks Norm for giving us an idea of what to expect.
I just hope to fucking god (pardon my language) that the rest of SA sees some sense and backs Rann the whole way through to 2018, because what he has done for this state so far is just immense, and I'd hate to see anything get in the way of that.

The advertiser seemed to give it all a pleasant spin for a change, which I for one wasn't expecting. Maybe Adelaide is finally ready to move forward?

SWEET! is all that I can say.
Trams to the Port, electrification of the rail network, and a line to West Lakes/AAMI.
I can't decide, are politicians finally listening to their constituents, or are they suddenly blessed with 20/20 vision?

Electrification of the Noarlunga line will commence in 2008‑09, and is expected to be completed in 2013‑14.
Electrification of the Outer Harbor line will commence in 2010‑11, and once connected to the tram network, will enable future extensions of light rail services to West Lakes, Semaphore and Port Adelaide.
The concrete resleepering program will also continue with work commencing on the Gawler line in 2008‑09. Electrification works will then commence on this line
in 2012‑13.
To clarify on Norm's estimates to Electrification. And its confirmed, the tramline will run along Port Road. Gawler electrification to be undertaken in 2012-13. Noarlunga electrification is imminent.

Sounds like they are going to rennovate the entertainment center - possibly the extended car park will also be a shared park n ride??
50.0 million to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre to undertake major facility enhancements
including construction of a new small live entertainment venue for up to 2500 people, an
expansion of patron service areas, development of a Port Road Drop-off/Pick-up point, and street
scaping on Port Road;
Work will start almost immediately on extending the Glenelg tram line from North Tce to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre where commuters from the western suburbs will, for a small fee, be able to park their cars and catch the tram to the city.

100m? that's about the length of a footy oval. A lot of people walk further for a local bus.

i think 100m is a bit short, barely across Sturt Rd. More like ~500m to get close to the hospital/uni.
