Will wrote:It's interesting how the government seems to locate their major infraestructure projects at 'sacred' Aboriginal sites. Think the Hindmarsh island bridge, the Seaford rail extension bridge and now this.

This is obviously another cash grab.

With the exception of the lands rights for gay whales people, do people genuinely believe that somehow a site which has been an industrial/ abbatoir/ tannery and rail yards could really be one of the most significant Aboriginal archeological sites in the state? In fact, I think any archeological dig would have more chance of uncovering artefacts of early European settlement as oppossed to Aboriginal artefacts.
maybe, but maybe its because all these developments take place at riversides where such secret women's business took place

The building site is a bit of a walk from the river though.

I can only imagine there will be a stir if the AO developement goes ahead.

From what I've heard AO is on the exact location of an aboriginal grave site?

At the current rate, I am expecting my kitchen to be subject to native title claim by the end of the year. Does that answer your question?

Is that guy in the picture wearing some sort of a protective body suit? I'm just curious because I heard that they had to clean up all the diesel left over by the trains.

I think it was just a wet day - they didn't seem to be dressed for any chem hazards yesterday. There has been quite a bit of piling and excavating
since I looked last:

There will be more piling soon, followed by another couple of metres of excavation for the 3 underground levels.
UniSA building has a camera with a live feed aimed at the site (apparently not publicly accessible), and are taking time lapse images
as part of an architecture course (or something).
